Change initial ship image

Is there a way to change out the default exploration vessel to one of my own creations?

ie i wish to change the USS Hero (or whatever its called) and replace it with one i have created.

Just replace S0_SurveyShip.shipcfg (in Data\ShipCfg and/or Data\ShipTemplates) with your custom shipcfg file.
