WHY DO LIBERALS HATE OIL COMPANIES?

I Have Great Admiration For The Accomplishments Of Oil Companies

Capitalism is a great economic system. All great companies and institutions started out with an idea from a little guy. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Eli Whitney and George Carver just to name a few. Eliminate inventors and entrepreneurs and we go back to the Stone Age.

Here are some great companies of the last hundred years or so. Ford Motor Company, Exxon-Mobile, RCA Victor, General Electric, Caterpillar, Nextel, Boeing, Intel, Home Depot and Dow Chemical just to name a few. These companies employ tens of millions of people and produce useful products and services unheard of just a couple of generations ago.

Yet, it’s the liberal Democrats who whine about and attack all parts of Capitalism. I don't see liberals giving up their big cars, or moving from their big houses, or turning off their home heaters, or not flying in jet planes, or not buying TV's, computers, fancy stereos, jewelry or air conditioners. Remember, when we go out and drive a car it is us who are putting pollutants into the air, not the oil companies.

Now if I were to advocate outlawing all porn companies, the liberals would rush to their defense. And yet porn companies produce nothing of value. Porn companies destroy families, destroy the morals of society, wreck the schools, create unwanted children, create pedophiles, create criminals, create rapists, create molesters and create family incest. Liberals even want to legalize the selling of hard drugs so the poor impoverished drug dealers can make some capitalistic bucks.

LIBERALS HAVE GOT TO BE THE SUPER HYPOCRITES OF ALL TIME!!!

Considering the adverse effects that pollution from the use of fossil fuels creates would it really be so bad if a more efficient and environment friendly alternative like hydrogen were used to replace oil?  These technologies already exist and we should welcome them emphatically don't you think?  Democrats are considered economists who usually stand for domestic policy which is why some are worried that Kerry being a democrat would not handle the Iraq war as feverently as Bush a republican.  Liberals embrace innovation, George Bush's Bioethics panel is putting limits on stem cell research which I think could be one of the most positive innovations of mankind, ever, giving us the ability to cure such debilitating illnesses like Parkinsons and Alzheimers.    You should read up on ideologies and what they actually stand for and we should all stop pointing fingers and just start thinking about change.  Wanting to keep things the way they are is detrimental towards advancement.

Most liberals I know love capitalism. I love capitalism far more than most conservatives, who only care about it in as much as it benefits their wallets, never for its impact on culture or the climate of diversity it creates. I love it like a plant in a garden of earthly joys that has grown too expansive and robust, and is suffocating other plants from sunlight and valuable minerals. It is indeed the most beautiful plant in that it produces so many different flowers, some stunning, some not so stunning, but as wonderful as it is, it is never more important than the garden as a whole, and when it looms threateningly over the smaller but equally gorgeous flowers, such as family, government, moderation, honesty, and of course the environment, then it must be carefully pruned back into its rightful shape and size. If this doesn't happen, the plant will get so big that it will no longer be able to sustain the democracy in its roots... And it will become ugly and whither away, until at last it embodies Marxism and morphs into communism, and then nobody is free, because nobody could be responsible.

Oil companies are just another business producing a product that is vital to the modern world economy.

you cant have it both ways marvin. if liberals attack capitalism why would they defend a 10 billion dollar industry that includes among the biggest players general motors, aol time warner, marriott hotels and directtv? the omni hotel chain dropped in-room porn 2 years ago and lost nearly 1 million in revenue. they must be run by liberals who hate capitalism to lose all that money. if more than one blue-chip fortune 500 company is profiting, you can bet there are others who are invested in them. best of all, porn does minimal damage to the environment and its a renewable resource that isnt under the control of any single global sector.

on that basis, declaring porn companies produce nothing of value-except 10 billion dollars annually--makes you an anticapitalist liberal.

like oil companies, porn producers are just another business producing a product that is vital to the modern world economy.

im not even going to check the revenue from illegal drugs but the last time i looked, the estimate was in the billions for heroin alone. those profits go mainly to major governments and distributors. by keeping hard drugs illegal, governments MAKE lots of money. heroin is very cheap to make and would barely be profitable if it was legal.

Yet the economy would benefit in the long run if the same money that went into developing this product went into developing natural fuel, which is cleaner and more economical for future generations

Oil companies are also prone to extorsion... Some Australian big boys tried to rip the East Timorese of when they were granted independance, I shudder to think what the Global Oil companies get up to. I wont even go into the bid for controlling Oil rich land - it reminds me of a computer game.

Saint Ying is right... I am so down with Capitalism... however, i beleive greed has taken over in many situations... i suppose thats the nature of the beast my friend.

This is funny. It's almost as if someone could seriously believe that the so-called liberal politicians are so different to Big Oil and the other capitalist sectors. One thing that's rude is the way this person put the perceived 'liberals' in the same heap as pedophiles and pornography. It's uncalled for to make a point that extreme, and if we were talking one on one in person I would ask you whether or not this extreme kind of political opinions stems from your desire for points or something, to get people wiled enough to take you on with those statements. Since it's the somewhat anonymous internet I can't have that luxury. Don't be so crass with your opinions if that's what you're trying to do. Maybe let go a little on the liberal this and liberal that because you're only feeding your own self-delusions when you do that. What I mean is that the more you say liberal and think about liberal you're simply stuck in the political trap which I mentioned earlier. The two party system is a public myth. Bush and Kerry are skull and bones. Kerry was never going to save America from Iraq but would have gone on the same course as Bush did. I personally think there was some sort of collusion between the two skull and bones cousins, and I base that on the secrecy they both had when asked (once) about the skull and bones. They dismissed it with humor, how it's secret so they can't talk about. All bunk. 2 Men from the same secret organization running for president? What are the odds on that?
