Random Events and space lane manipulation

Just wondering if random events are going to be included

e.g. Your colony on X a Volcanic planet has been crippled becuase of a , you guessed it, volcano that popped up right next to it.

the always popular your mining colony found a superrich vein of crystal you get 2x income for the next X seconds.

Or Asteriod belt Y has been hit by a solarstorm and lost cohesion, as such there is not enough gravity to maintain the jump lines to it, (thus chaniging the strategic value of certain nearby planets.
Would also be kinda cool if late in the game with enough research we could have some limited control of the space lanes and perhaps make it possible to close down or open up new ones , similar to using phase gates except you wouldnt need to control both planets to set it up you just have to fly a "special" captial to the other end to deploy and create the lane (destroyable of course)

Ya know phasics, its amazing just how repetitive some things get.

Welcome to the forums, but don't get your hopes up. "Deployable" phase lanes was something that got a dev's "that sounds cool"... and that was it. Random events were debated, but something as major as changing phase lanes was agreed to be an absolute not going to happen.

Past that, wait and see if the devs have it "in the works" and haven't told us -- we're well past feature lock, its too late to add new things.

We settled on the inhibitors and various abilities to limit your use of phase lanes, Phase Gates to bypass the default paths and the special Vasari ability of the Antorak Marauder to be able to setup one the end points (which was inspired from the forum requests early on so it was cool and we did act on it, just not verbatim). We do want to mix up the per-race inhibitors as well but it won't be the release. Finally, there is another way to get around but it hasn't been released yet.

Maybe there will be minefield in order to close phase lane ?
or maybe a ship equivalent to the submarine (which combine stealth firepower but which is slow) ?

Excuss me while I derail my own post but I figured this didnt need a thread of its own.

Question

Are the current ship list in beta 4 all of the ships for the two races ? Or are we expecting to see more added before release ?

Expect another tactical building for the TEC ("Novalith Cannon"), but thats all we're expecting.
