Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

AF-Ronin did an excellent job creating those! :D

the Galactic senate which the Kzinti hold very powerful seat on. Most of us are allied wiht the Kzinti government and have incorperated their customs into our way of life. maybe peace is the answer. the HCH use to be the power but now it's the dawn of predators and the Kzinti hold the power. now we face an era where the strong survive.

Wise indeed Firenight666. This is the natural law of the galaxy, as it was at the beginning of time, and as it will always be until the end of the universe.

Frak! I don't know who that Livonya character is, but damn, they posted a 1,062,950 game yesterday and now is in 5th place. I only went looking to who jumped above me since I saw I fell to 15th overnight.

~shakes that one off~

Question KP, in that swindle game, how many opponents did you go up against? I tried to get one moving this weekend, but got crushed. I had 9 opponents.

Hmmm, I think that score is a record. Hopefully it's a legitmate score at least...

I do 9 opponenent for the Swindle games, because my thinking is that no empire will get too big to intimidate, and pulling the Swindle on them will be easier. I'm part way through another Swindle game and its nearing the end of year 2. I've eliminated 3 AIs, and 2 more will quickly join them. I pulled the Swindle right at the end of year 1.

How quickly did you get to the point where you had all the requisite yellow techs?

I just stopped in after my week vacation and saw KP at #1. Congrats!  :CONGRAT:

I knew you'd get there before long.

On the game Livonya played, I think we can rest assured that it's legit. Livonya has been around for a long time and recently reset his MV profile. Probably so he could get the max credit for his recent games.

Eh, I wasn't following any directions on the maiden voyage...plus I was using TA instead of DA. I was floundering too much and was loosing worlds due to influence flips vs the Torians and Kyrnn.

Thanks Motti! :) I decided to make run for it, and did a couple dozen ZYWs in one evening to get there. I've been there for about a week, but I bet you or Mag or someone else will grab it back sometime soon!

I did notice that reset a while back, but I dont think I've ever talked to Livonya, so I dont know anything about him.

I've found with that strategy, you need to be very focused on getting all the diplomacy techs and wonders, even though it may seem like you are losing or falling behind badly before you steal their planets. The AIs will be threatening you a lot, because you will have no military for a while, but I never got attacked, probably because of the high diplomacy factor. I believe Motti is a real expert at the Swindle, so maybe he can offer some words of wisdom.

Yep, thats definitely a good tactic too Freeman. I also find I can buy other random planets from the AIs throughout the game too, when I'm not at war.

It's not likely to be me. I'm back to playing games of a more interesting nature. Those ZYWs are nice to get you up there, but I can't see doing them for the long run. Besides, I made it there and my medal will always say "Former 1st Place" or better. :)

Mumblefratz is the real expert, which is why we call the games "Mumblers" or "Mumblegames" in the TOE. It's in his honor for developing the main part of the strategy. We all have our own variants on it. I think DethAdder is current top dog on the swindle itself though. I'm the top Social/Mil producer AFAIK, with Mumblefratz taking the top spot in Economy.

I like to tech whore as much as I can and trade weapons away for social and diplos. I also trade socials and econ away because you want your enemies to be as strong as possible before you take them for a ride.

In my current game, I took all but two of the starting 9 AIs out in year 0. I'm down to one AI on Wisp, am very cash positive and have my starbase array completed with all but the top mass driver techs in October 2226 (year 1 in DL). :)

Well, second attempt on swindle went down last night. I rolled back to DA to first get on the same playing field as others. I need to pick back up at the first week and re-do since I never got a good colony rush in and thus fell behind in researching my techs and getting the military going. Otherwise things I think went well. With that fix in place I should be fine. I have plenty of room between me and the AI so I have time to rush and simmer before they start pushing into my space.

It definitely was different than playing in TA. The ZOCs are larger in TA from what I can tell, and thus I get encroached upon far quicker. Plus that TA game I had the worst two offenders for ZOC encroaching as my neighbors IMHO, the Torians and Kyrnn.

Pretty simple actually. I combined what I learned from my ZYW games with the gigantic map ones. All labs strategy with no colonizing at first. I went for research techs and survey ships early and tech whored for cash and social techs.

High diplo followed, but I held off building the SCC and my psyonic ships until after I had traded war with everyone, including the minors. Timing is the key. I rush bought everything I could on credit and ignored most of the "wonders".

My econ took a huge dive, since I was already thousands in the red and falling before I upgraded my ships. Something that can't be done in TA AFAIK. DL and DA still allow it for now.

One thing about the all labs strategy is that you can still build ships, even if you're more than 500k in the red. It takes no time to build a blank cargo hull and you can then upgrade it to a warship. It makes for good trading fodder or for simply boosting your mil rating. I use it for the latter, because I never trade a ship for a planet. Some do, but warships are too valuable to the mil rating in my strategies.

I could have taken all of the AIs out, since they were willing to part with their last planets for peace, but I needed two players for the war trade and a ZYW wasn't what I was trying for.

If you have any specific questions, please ask and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.

Well I can't exactly not acknowleadge the great acompishment you have made. Besides, it looks good to have alot of fuzzy aliens in the senate.

it means they have the largest say in the senate, because their faction is the largest. when you overtake them you'll assume the most power.

Very interesting Motti...thanks for the hints! :) I'll have to fool around with some of that once I get a chance this weekend. I probably will have a bunch of questions, and my first one is, so you didnt colonize any planets? Or maybe just 1 or 2?

No colonizing at first. I upgraded my initial colony ship to a long range survey ship.

I had to build a lot of colonizers later, but that was due to a misstep in my timing. I went to war too early and didn't give the AIs enough time to expand.

This also meant that I had to build the planets up myself instead of relying on the AIs to do it for me.

I tested my score at the end of year 1 and it was only 240k. Going to war too early was one cause of the less than stellar score.

Another failing on my part was the dismantling of my SCC planet before my starbase array could compensate for the drop in mil rating.

Live and learn, huh? I'll try to nail it down next game.

Interesting... I usually go for 4-5 initial colonies (always at least 3) - but then I don't start any wars in the first year.

I know what you mean about having to wait for the AIs to get up to speed before taking them out  ;)  I nearly always have to go through a rush-buy coloniser phase to fill in the gaps.

Never tested for score that early - will have to next game to compare.
