Game Hangs on end of turn

I'm trying to pin down the reasons for this bug, but I'm not noticing much consistency in why it happens. I need a few suggestions on what to keep an eye out for or if anyone else is experiencing something similar to add to this post for the devs.

Right now I'm playing a Terran game on Medium galaxy size. GalCiv2 is running on a Vista Home Prem. Core 2 Duo T7200, 2GB Ram, GF go 7600. This is an HP laptop.

The game date is Nov 15, 2229. The last hang happened almost right after the minor race of the Carinoids were destroyed by the Drenigan. The hang occurred when I clicked next turn. This game also has the Korath in it.

The other two times the game hung wasn't due to a race being destroyed.

Another strange behavior as apart of this game hang is that when it happens I can alt-tab out of the game. When I restore the game I can press escape to get to the menu screen where I can quick save the game. During this time there is a period of black screen before the menu comes up but eventually it does and I can save. After killing the process for TA I can reload from that quick save and play as normal.

I'll add more to this post as I have more spcific info.

I had another End of Turn crash. This time the entire program crashed and no chance of saving the game.

Right before the crash the display zoomed to a Korath fleet attacking one of my freighters. Game date was March 20, 2230.

Not much more to go on then that.

Please install 'SmartException' from the free stuff section in Stardock Central. Make sure that SE is running and start your game as normal. If the game crashes it will generate an exception report that can be emailed to [email protected].

Include in/attached to the email:
+ A description of what you were doing at the time.
+ How to reproduce the crash (if possible).
+ A zipped save (if applicable).
+ The appropriate debug.err file.

The devs cannot help if you do not provide these details!

i've had the "end turn hang," as you call it, since DL first came out. i've never cared much: my game performs much better when i save, quit and reload ever few hours anyway.

The "end turn hang", in my experience anyway, is generally caused by a ship (or several in rare cases) not being able to use its movement points properly when the turn is processing. 90+% of the time, it can be cleared by using the find button, then using the space bar to waste the selected ship's movement points. Do this a few times and the turn will most likely run to completion.
