Sorry JU readers. As many times as I have warned others about believing what you find on the internet, I fell victim by not listening to my own advice. There is now an updated article from the source I used for a previous article about a Florida School honoring COs on Veterans Day...and apparently the school had a good old fashioned Vets Day celebration without any mention of COs. At least that is what the principal says. I guess the correct thing to do would be to pull down my original article, but I am reluctant because I said some things in it that I want to stand.
I plead guilty to being a little too sensative about veteran's issues. I have a soft spot for those who have served, are serving, and will serve in the future. I spent most of my adult life as an NCO and that means my first responsibility was always to take care of soldiers. I have a twenty-six year perspective on the lifestyles of servicemen and I have seen the way they have been treated by those they served. So any little piece of honor they are denied is a personal affront. These veterans have earned the respect, adoration, and gratitude of the citizens of the USA and one day a year is not too much to ask for them to be singled out for that honor.
Again, I am sorry for not fact-checking better...and will work to regain any credibility I may have lost over this. Have a happy holiday, Joes. And again, THANK YOU to all the vets.
