So the AI any better in Beta 4?

My major gripe with Sins of a Solar Empire so far is the AI is no challenge what so ever, sure i could play online but i hate playing with people in RTS games. I just want a competent AI. ¬¬

Just wondering if they have been upgraded a notch, because i can win without doing anything as the AI in beta3 hardly attacked, and when they did my guass turrets killed them ¬¬. (the pirates were a bigger threat than the AI)

i just had a game with a normal AI and i like it

Well i could beat him, but he was attacking from 2 directions and made me run around after him

So yes, to me the AI has become ALOT better

Sweet! Nice to hear... now if only stardock downloaded faster than <1byte a second ¬¬, 16mb line and it downloads slower than a 56k modem

AI is a hell of alot better. There's still some gripes to work out, but I almost lost for once against a computer :o My ally (another computer) was able to help me out.

The only problem I have with it, is it's nearly impossible for them to share vision with you. And than they ask "Why am I here, and you aren't?" (I don't even know where they are!)

And to the above poster; it's around 10mb for stardock central. But downloading SoaSE from it downloads around 300-900
hours[/hr]kb for me.

Cool my speeds just shot up.

Hoping for some decent battles

I love RTS games but most have sucky AI, glad to hear it's improved. While it was decent last time, it just was too passive and made some stupid decisions in my opinion.

Not really. Since they haven't had the time to overhaul the AI for beta 4. So it can't be much better then the beta 3 AI.

Or in other words, the AI is still as weak as before.

AI:

* Lots of new AI, mostly to handle special Vasari abilities, behaviors, research, tactics and strategies.
* Fixed AI target selection problem regarding fighters/bombers/flak frigates when the auto-planet-defense AI is used.
* Improved retreating logic.
* Improved collision avoidance, especially around planets.
* AI now turns off autocasting abilities that are no longer applicable.
* See bottom for more comments.

What didn't make it in...

* Lots. In particular, the massive AI overhaul (Vasari AI took precedence)

That's from the beta 4 change log.

So the current AI just can't be much different then the old one. (And I don't feel it plays harder (when playing TEC against TEC for comparison).

that might be it, as i feel they play very different.
This was a Vasari vs TEC

*Improved retreating logic...

Now the AI just runs away on sight of a human enemy (dont matter if its Vasari or TEC). It is interesting the the AI will beat the crap out of each other, but as soon as a human player jumps in they all run away.

I noticed that.. the AI runs like crazy now. It saves their capitals more often, but it makes winning battles that way a bit too easy, you just need to get their shields down and dip into their hull a little and they start running. At that point you can stop shooting and they'll still jump out
