Upgraded ship invisible when zoomed-in

On the turn completing the upgrade of a ship to a constructor, the zoomed-out view of the constructor is fine, but the zoomed-in view shows nothing. The graphic for the newly upgraded constructor failed to load. Not sure if there are ways to save this for repro, or whether a screen shot would be worthwhile.
Just realized this message doesn't automatically "know" that I'm talking about TotA, Medium size, Terran race, suicide setting. Anything else pertinent?
Ok, now another addendum. Switching back into the game the constructor's graphic is showing just fine.
At least the game allows jumping between applications without obnoxious side effects.
Jumping back into the game, I find that all anomalies are only visible when zoomed-out. Jumping in and out of the game didn't help.
