My daily visit to the forums.

Well first off, daily is a laugh, like most everyone else I visit here numerous times during the day.

When I first subscribed to Object Desktop I don't think I ever looked at the forums. When I started my WinCustomize subscription I visited every once in a while. Now it seems I wouldn't be able to get through the day without checking in here. I started out just clicking on posts that looked like they would interest me, and now every single post gets read.

All this reading of posts has made me appreciate what Stardock has provided and I even have tried some of the many programs because of it. I also have managed to help a one a two people with minor problems, which is saying alot for me.

The forums not only provide helpful information they also provide alot of entertainment, especially the posts about which OS in the one you should be running. There is no lack of opinions voiced here in the forums, that's for sure.

One of things I find myself doing lately is clicking on the posters name and seeing what's in their profile. It helps when I think I going to offer up an opinion or some help. Sometimes though it can be very misleading, like a 77 yr old posting text like they are a 14 yr old and calling everyone "peeps". What's up with that?

So folks, how do you navigate through the forums, do you read every post or just the one's that interest you? Do you find that you leave lots of replies or not?

Oh, the reason I posting is I'm trying to kill sometime waiting for those new additions that Brad talked about last week. You just got to love these guys and gals at Stardock.

I always use the 'View all recent posts' to navigate. I'm here dozens of times each day, so I mostly read all posts, but mainly I start with anyone who looks like they need help.

One thing is certain, the forum these days is a very friendly place to visit. Its a credit to everyone who comes here

I'M ALLOWED TO LEAVE?!?!?!

First I had no idea what you were saying Zubaz, then it almost hit me, I managed to duck, can't go around all day with stuff all over my shirt.        Yes you can leave the forums but only for very personal hygiene reasons.

I used to see EVERYTHING on the site but lately I only see about 50%.

I wish I could thank each and everyone that comments on my skins but it gets overwhelming and can go to your head so I tend to be a bit shy in that regards.

No you have to stay. With out your bazaar comments we couldn't make through our day.

I go for the recent posts list. I scan for anything DX related (which isn't a whole lot) and then move onto threads that sound interesting or funny. I don't have enough time to read all of the posts but I reckon I get around to most of them in a day or 2 (which, of course, by then there are dozens more). I don't think I leave alot of replies; mostly when an opinion is asked asked for or when I feel I have something more to offer. Overall, I like to just read what everyone else has to say and there's never a dull moment.

One of the more entertaining reasons for being in the forums.

I'm here almost daily. I read the forums that might teach me something or if it looks like it might be funny. I tend to skip over the forums about things I dont have, like Vista.
My favorites are the posts in the Community and General sections. They tend to reveal something about the people here, what they like, what they do, what they are interested in. It help me get to know everybody a little.

I check those that I know/like the person that started the thread.  Then those threads that I might find interesting.  Move on to those that have zero replies.

all my days i'm here i see all skins i can and read all post too. I leave a reply when i think i can help or when i think my opinion can been interesting or just for the funny trolling
I check home news, 'View all recent posts',... I admit i should read more article section.
I begin my WC day by read my skins comments, the posts i replied, see the news skins, the updated skins, news articles, and then back to the new post especially those without any reply.
I don't think i made many replies especially when i build skins or like these days when i'm in pain (stillhealthproblemslol).

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate you all taking the time.

Quentin94, if it's at all possible you just have to do what needs to be done and get better.

I check recent posts, avoiding the "WINDOWBLINDS DESTROYED MY SEX LIFE!!" type posts then move on to more recent checking topics where I might be able to help and always looking for posts from those I recognize/like. I seem to be drawn to opportunities to be a smart-ass. Probably from dealing with teenagers at home and having to hold my tongue at the office.

Yes, same as Fuzzy....though what tends to spark my interest first is the fast-growing thread....that suggests 'issues'....

The forums are really in good health re friendliness.  This wasn't always the case, so kudos to all who have been instrumental in this 'friendlification' [new word....don't wear it out]...

As for "WINDOWBLINDS DESTROYED MY SEX LIFE!!" ....well, substitute 'Wincustomize.com' for 'Windowblinds', factor in the time-zone differentials.......and that'd be pretty bloody right....for me....

The 'recent forum posts' is the first place I go to on a daily basis(work permitting).

I try to look at all that I can, even in areas that I don't have knowledge in. The forums are a great educational tool because I always find something I did not know before.

We have had some volatile times, some bad , some good but I think the forums are nice and balanced now, which everyone here deserves a big kudos!

I check the most recent posts.

Then, I open a fresh bottle of Goldenschlagger and a new voodoo doll and go looking for skinhit's posts.

I favour the 'join in' stuff. Mostly because it encourages me to keep on opening up my own graphics software and getting some more practice in.

Anything where people are still genuinely interested/excited about what they're doing - I love it when someone takes the time to write a tutorial or guide .... beyond that it's just whatever attracts me at the time ....

Happy Halloween all.

I'm on my 2nd cup of coffee by the time I click on Recent forum activity, and read at least 98% of the posts everyday. If because of time I am not able to get though all the posts I do come back and finish. I help where I can and always manage to make my day brighter by being here.

On some days its 6 pages & others its 9, I do wish that 9 or even 10 pages were the standard.

Happy Halloween everyone

I lurk ..waiting to pounce on unsuspe....

...wait, no I don't.

That was a dream.

I tend to read as much as I can during the day whilst at work. I'm probably one of the few who has permission from my employer to keep a browser window open to WinCustomize, and my irc client open to Stardock irc. I never let that interfere with my job though ...

When at home, I try to get time to download a few things to customize my pc's, download & test the current uploads in the moderation queue's that I moderate, reply to emails etc, and check out these forums again. I also like to check what's new in the galleries.

In a 24 hour day, I'd say I'm here on & off about 16 hours.

I wholeheartedly agree that these forums are a much nicer place to be these days

To all who made that possible, pat yourselves on the back ...you deserve it.

I totally enjoy the forums. I find them funny, educational, and just down right interesting. I am able to get a feel for the poster and those who help them. I may not get around to reading every post because of other demands in my life. But when I am here it is my home away from home.

Once again thanks to everyone posting a reply.

It would seem that you all feel the forums these days is a much nicer place to visit. Glad I wasn't visiting when it wasn't so friendly and nice.

Now that's not saying people aren't voiceing their opinions, still have alot of that, which is really what a forum should be about.
