Taskbar transparency

Molten skin

Hello

  I have the paid version of WB6.  I can't get the Molten skin to use full transparency for the taskbar.  The Molten skin was working just fine for me last week.  I have the slider slid to the end of "more transparent".....applied my changes.....and nothing happens.  The taskbar is not transparent.  I've have tried different visual styles and they work just fine.....the taskbar is transparent.  Why is the Molten skin not making my taskbar transparent?  Any clues?  Windows XP Home SP2.  Thank you.

Post your system information here first.  Maybe you have a bad install.

In addition to the System Information^, I would also be interested to know the video driver date/version you're using.

I do the following (as workaround):

Open Molten\MoltenXPStuff.xp with a Text Editor and replace

Code: css
  1. [Taskbar.Horz]
  2. Image=Molten\MoltenTaskBarBackgroundDouble.bmp
  3. LeftWidth=0
  4. RightWidth=0
  5. TopHeight=14
  6. BottomHeight=5
  7. Tile=1
  8. TileTop=1
  9. TileBottom=1
  10. TileLeft=0
  11. TileRight=0
  12. SmallObjectName=TBDouble
  13. MinHeight=62
  14. [Taskbar.Horz:TBDouble]
  15. Image=Molten\MoltenTaskBarBackground.bmp
  16. LeftWidth=0
  17. RightWidth=0
  18. TopHeight=0
  19. BottomHeight=0
  20. Tile=1
  21. TileTop=1
  22. TileBottom=1
  23. TileLeft=0
  24. TileRight=0

with

[Taskbar.Horz]
Image=Molten\MoltenTaskBarBackground.bmp
LeftWidth=0
RightWidth=0
TopHeight=14
BottomHeight=5
Tile=1
TileTop=1
TileBottom=1
TileLeft=0
TileRight=0
MinHeight=62
Trans=1
PerPixel=1

now i can set the Taskbar transparent (but not the Taskbar buttons).

Mike.....you requested my video info.....here it is.......NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.....version 4.5.2.3 with a date of 7/28/03.
Like I stated above in my first post......the Molten skin was working fine about 2 weeks ago INCLUDING the transparency of the taskbar. My pc is up to date with all the Microsoft updates. I appreciate Mr. Karrde help....but I am just a basic computer person and really not sure how to do that. Thank you.

Did you increase your taskbar to double or more height?

The version of the Molted skin I have uses a BMP for the taskbar instead of a tga. I assume this has something to do with the problem.

@prickly pear

Agreed, its not the easy way.
Maybe my "solution" helps Stardock to find the snag.
I Tried to edit with Skin Studio 5 Pro first, after this the animation on top of the startmenu disappeared.

BTW: I thought first time with installed Windowsblind 6 (playing around with different styles and settings) the Molten taskbar was transparent. Only im not sure anymore.

Hello Mr. Karrde,

When I first installed WB6 (the paid version) about 2 weeks ago.......YES.....the Molten skin was working just fine. Yes.....even the Molten taskbar WAS TRANSPARENT. I've also played around with WB6....changing skins....setting different degrees of transparency.....changing fonts...etc. I finally went back to the Molten skin and that is when I started having problems with NO transparency on the taskbar with the Molten skin. Strange!!

With original Molten skin

Taskbar default height = NOT Transparent
Taskbar double or more height = Transparent (background only, buttons not).

*edit* Never used double or more height. Only unlock the Taskbar for a short time to resize the Quick Launch toolbar.
