TheChaplain TheChaplain

I'm here for you!

I'm here for you!

Hey everyone, I'm "Thechaplain" and I'm (kind of) new here (I've visited the site before but I never created an acount until now). This site is great! I love how much you are able to skin differant apps (although I'm not very good at it  ).

Now, for what this post really is about:

I've noticed in the past couple of months that several of you have been going through some rough times, specifically Snidely Whiplash (Prayers are needed), and vStyler (Be ever vigilant...). I'm just here to let everyone know that I'm here for you. If you have a problem, or are going through a rough time in your life you can email me at: [email protected] (I don't know how to link it, Sorry!  ).

  God Bless!

Motor Racing, eg Formula One and MotoGP have 'sports Chaplains' ....for the very real possibility of needing to perform Last Rites, etc.

lets hope no one needs to perform last rites in the forums.....

While you're at also explain why I would want to confide in someone who is only 15 years old, as shown by your profile information? Now I'm not saying you can not be a religious person. What's in your background that qualifies you for your apparent vocation?

While your age has been changed/corrected on your profile, I stll would like to know more about your background. What road did you travel to come upon this choice in your life?

As George Carlin always says... Thou shall keep thy religion to thyself.

It's come close a time or two as I recall.

Can he EVAC an ailing PC or resuscitate a failing HD? Or is he strictly last rites for incurable BSOD?

Well I'm seeing some negatives here towards TheChaplain's offer, which I only took as an offer of friendship, and it has turned into a far from encouraging or friendly thread for him as a new member.

I don't think this was ever about religion or confessing our deepest, darkest secrets, but about an offer to listen when perhaps there's nobody else around, etc.

Guess what I'm trying to say here is that as a community we could be more tactful in our handling of such situations and not be so closed-minded....it's not like anyone has to speak about anything they don't want to...nor were they asked.

Well said

On the other hand, people at their most vulnerable need protection. We need to be mindful of, and sensitive to their needs above everything else.

Starkers . . . I think that we've acted in character, good, bod or indifferent.

theChaplain is releativly new here (member since Oct 17, 2007).  Asking us to take him/her into our confidence was a ballsy step.  Not a bad one and maybe one that took some guts but it did come rather out of the blue.

Having been here a month and long enought to see some of the requests for support he/she has also had enough time to gather that there is a ton of humor on this forum.  I see a lot of that in this thread.

I also see some good advice.

All in all, it's not a bad coming out party.

In any case, I'm glad for the new member.  Have a seat.  Sit a spell.  Make youself at home.

Don't listen to him....he loves me!

See what a freakin' liar he is?!

He's just so easy to hate.

It's like brokeback mountain all over again! Seriously though, you guys are hilarious, you should have your own page on this site - too funny!!!

I agree Starkers, the original offer made by Chaplain was a friendly one, the response returned should have been a little bit more friendly. Welcome to WC Chaplain!

I think I have also read a great deal of some good tongue and cheek humor here. Friendly includes free expression. Why admonish?

Heartlessland Security has noted your 'attitude' and we'll be contacting you.

Well at least no one told him to shove it, right?

Which is exactly why I would not encourage people to lean to a total stranger that is looking to be their 'confidant'

While something might look benign enough always keep in mind that there are many scams artists lingering around the internet just waiting to find that one person that is a bit down on themselves and then they are easy prey to internet con games.

People that are vulnerable will cling on to a sympathetic ear and be ' misinformed' or given improper advice by an unqualified person....or worse.

I think most of us here know who our 'friends' are and to tread carefully before spilling our guts to a stranger.

This is just a reality check of internet communication.

I think the pertinent point here is that TheChaplain offered his hand in friendship, and an ear if/when it was needed. Ballsy...perhaps, but I'd prefer to err on the side of reserving judgment until I know a little more one way or another.

Nobody has to dive in to the confessional and spill their whole life story because, like in any new relationship, most people prefer to exercise caution until they're better acquainted, and I'm sure TheChaplain is fully aware of that.

Yes I am aware, and I'm not expecting an entire life story, just a prayer request.

It might take time for people to open up in that way, but if you continue to be honest and sincere it will happen in good time.

The members of this community are a great bunch of people, and whether it's asked or not, many will offer prayers and support to others whose lives have taken a turn for the not so good. All in all, however, I think you caught many by surprise and they will warm to you as acquaintances grow.

Oh, and BTW, welcome to Wincustomize and I hope your stay is as enjoyable as mine has been over the years.
