He was talking about that book I mentioned and it was a pretty good segment. He was mentioning how Russia's goal since the 1950's has been to spread communism throughout the world bringing down the US last. It was a fascinating perspective. I may have to read that book.

And Bill Richardson can be a great benefit to the nation's economy...you know what? Just ask San Chonino, He can tell you all about it. I just like the guy. And I refuse to believe he's dead last. Deny, deny deny!

Yes, all of this is true.

And yet, by having these pro-life presidents, the momentum is progressing steadily forward. Rudy as President would not help, but hinder, in this regard. If he wants the stalwart pro-life vote, he's going to have to change his tune and convincingly so. between now and the time of the election.

He's convinced some of the neo-Cons, like Hannity, et al, who are nominally pro-life, saying he'll appoint strict constrictionist judges. But that doesn't hold water. He didn't during his stint as mayor.

The religious right only makes me a tad nauseous.

Even though you are pro-Rudy, why LW, are you talking like Rudy is a done deal? There is still a ways to go to the primary and lots can happen between now and then.

I think in some ways it does a disservice to the Republican Party to automatically assume something like this far in front of the primary.

Being a good person is not enough, you have to cater to those with deep pockets and that means making deals and Bill Richardson is a man of honor, he will not do that, and in not doing that he defeats himself.

She is without a doubt a very scary lady, and secretive, much more secretive that the Bush white house and that is not a stretch.

Ridiculous demands, really? Again, the Republican Platform is pro-life. So you're saying it's ridiculuous to expect GOP candidates to tow the party line? As a Christian I do not require anyone to believe as I do, with a few exceptions. Don't murder, don't lie, don't cheat on your spouse, obey the laws of the land (ours in the US are based on the Ten Commandments, although liberals don't want you to know that), don't take other people's stuff, etc., you get the idea. Don't do harm to your neighbor or yourself, is usually a good policy. Teaching people to be nice to each other is one of the reasons they nailed Jesus on to two pieces of wood... But I digress.

Be careful how you categorize people. There are a lot of Christians who feel as I do, just as there are a lot of Muslims who are not terrorists.

First he might have spoken as one man, but and it's a huge but, he speaks for many people, his voice carries a tremendous amount of weight.

To expect a candidate to toe {not tow} each and every line you draw in the sand is folly, specially when it means that someione far worse will get in, as explained above the President has no say so in abortion issues the SCOTUS does, as for what he did as Mayor of New York is has no bearing on what he might or might not do as President of the United States, All I know is he will protect us, and that is Job One for the government.

Then you are the exception, as part of Christianity are you not suppossed to bring people to Jesus by your actions and words?

What the hell does someone else's behavior with their spouse have to do with you?

While much of your post had some sense to it, this little chunk is ridiculous.

Quite frankly, MM, I was hoping you'd say something like this to explain that remark of yours.

To me, as I read your article, you indicated that for x, y and z reasons, the religious right is your (personal) enemy that you wouldn't mind face slapping. So, in that sense, I took it personally.

In any event, save that kind of vehemence for true enemies, not other GOP members. If I learned anything from your article, it's that if we are to win, the GOP and all it's big-tent members have got to find a way to work effectively together. I think it can be done and will be done.

I can claim it.
