By taskbar, I mean that toolbar at the bottom of the desktop (by default) with the time, start menu and other things.

The taskbar doesn't display the skin, yet the preview in the options of the taskbar show the old Ares skin I applied previously... and it has been stuck there ever since. Is there anything I can do to remove or restore it to normal without a system rollback?

Actually, it's the free trial.

Here are screens of the problem:

My taskbar is even partially hidden at the bottom, real annoyance (1st picture).

Do you remember when you installed the trial version?
The normal result of going over the time limit is a return to the "Classic Style"
If your not over the time limit I suggest a uninstall/reinstall.

WB configuration
in the setting tab

under Skin settings > do you have a mark in 'Ignore the taskbar and startmenu defined in the skin and use the one set below'?

Did you try setting the Windowblinds config to "Windows XP Style" (almost all the way to the left)?

Not too sure what you're talking about now, I think you mean changing that option in Visual Styles?

Ok, now all my Windows default themes have been deleted somehow, I just noticed. Can't even set it back to Aero, it will just be pitch black.

I believe the WB6 trial has a 30 day limit irregardless of having a previous trial version installed - if so then, you should still have 16 days left if you installed on the download.com date of 10/02/2007.....shouldn' be due to expiration

Settings not set to override skin's taskbar/start menu...

try Lantec's suggestion: unistall, reboot, reinstall, reboot

man, I gotta learn to refresh the page after thinking and before posting....

Yes, change to the Default Windows theme (Aero) under "Visual Styles"
Sorry , I don't have Vista, so I'm not sure of the default visual style name.

Hey Cloaked Bolt Lantec is referring to using Visual Styles options to reapply the Windows default style. I run Windows XP so if I scroll all the way to the left using the Window Blinds configuration menu (scroll bar at bottom) I will see Windows XP Style and the author is shown as Microsoft. If I then select that XP style and click on apply my changes, Window Blinds reapplies the standard XP blue theme. Works everytime. In Windows Vista you should look for the standard Windows Vista style and apply it and see if that clears up the problem. Hope that helps.

I uninstalled WindowBlinds and the taskbar transformed back into Ares. However I cannot change it yet to something else (WindowBlinds seems to crash everytime I try to switch to Microsoft skins).

Update: Problem solved. I just reinstalled the wrong version.
