I'm just a Child-you know.

I turned my face from You
and now I see below the earth.
Nothing waits to find me alone
and tare my mask to shredded pulses
of the once beating heart.
Cold and shaking
with terror
with hope
with knowledge-that's the worst part.
I turned my face from You
and now I see below the earth.
Something raw has found me alone.
In the position of attention I stand to hear my fate.
Inside I am a child-you know?
Like yesterday...
when I played dress up in Father's boots.
I'm just a child, you know.

Innocence lost, and the dreaded fear of punishment...not bad.

Up until the child part it seemed like you had died.

"and now I see below the earth."

Something tells me this isn't what you were trying to say but it reminds me of something that someone would say who once was a christian but then left Christ and died. Now they're in hell waiting for their punishment. Because they didn't ever grow spiritually they died as a child of the kingdom who gave up their place.

Once being a Christian they already know:
1) what is to come ("knowledge")
2) that it is the worst fate possible ("terror")
3) that IF they could return to Christ that they MIGHT have a chance of avoiding their fate ("hope")

The something raw seems to be the most basic of something and in this case... evil or the devil.

I'm probably way off but that's what I got out of it. Costlow over and out!

I know religion is wrapped up in it...damned good breakdown by Costlow in that particular area. Kudos!

Ah! Much much closer indeed! It's like you were in my head, Costlow!

Strangely enough, this is exactly what I was getting at. Wow. That is weird that you can do that. Weird.
NICE JOB you guys!!!

That might be the scariest place of all.

This stupid art class I'm taking has messed with my head. I likely would have originally just accepted it as a loss of innocence but I just HAD to try and dig a bit deaper... *sigh*

but I just HAD to try and dig a bit deaper...

I think college does that to people...especially arts, religion, and philosophy...but other classes promote interconnected thinking as well.  The world is a tapestry of meaning.

For once, I am very glad that something made you think lol! j/k : )
Most of my poems have two meanings. I like people to be able to take what they want out of it and relate it to themselves. I try to hid the true meaning better so that only me and those very close to me can understand them.

I'd like to think that I could pull that off as well but I'm still just a bit too much of a math geek so multiple meanings (gray areas) tend to sadden me a bit. i don't mind reading them or anything, I just don't like trying to write them out. it's not "me".

We're like ogres, which are like onions, which are like cakes...they all have layers.
