Bodhidharma Zazenkai

With palms together,
Good Morning Everyone,

Just as the legend of Jesus rising from his grave, so too, Bodhidharma was seen walking home in India from China after his death. He was seen walking with one shoe tied on a stick over his shoulder. An exhumation of his grave revealed only one shoe in the grave. Was Bodhidharma a god? No. But he was someone who surpassed birth and death. He lived in the here and now and his teaching was true Zen. 'You want to know reality?' Bodhidharma might ask, then 'open your eyes and see what is there right in front of you.' No recourse to scripture or fancy temples or even good works. Just this. That is all that is necessary. And with such practice, the rest follows naturally.

Bodhidharma' s Zen, our Zen, is the Zen of the click and clack of the keyboard, the whirr of the ceiling fan, the drip of sweat or feet of a fly on our face.

Master Bodhidharma, First Chinese Patriarch, died October 5th, 528 C.E.

Today we honor his memory and his work through the practice of Zazenkai, a day of seated meditation.

If you are in the Las Cruces area and would like to join us, please do. The whole day (from 9:00 AM through 4:30 PM) is open to the public with the exception of lunch which is for registered participants only.

Be well.
