WindowBlinds 6 Released!

The Next Generation of WindowBlinds Is Here

Stardock is pleased to announced the official release of WindowBlinds 6. WindowBlinds is a utility that allows users to change the look and feel of the Windows desktop experience by applying skins to the user interface in both Windows Vista and XP. WindowBlinds can change title bars, push buttons, Start bars, scrollbars and nearly every other element of the Windows user interface.

WindowBlinds 6 adds the ability to have "blurred glass" window borders on Windows XP which allows artists to make skins that could make Windows XP look virtually identical to Windows Vista.

WindowBlinds 6 also adds full support for customizing Microsoft’s new Windows Vista operating system. Everything from Internet Explorer 7 skinning, Sidebar skinning to explorer backgrounds, WindowBlinds 6 skins virtually every element of Windows Vista while making full use of the hardware acceleration features on Windows Vista for maximum performance.

The new version also adds a host of other features including advanced animation support in skins, user-creatable skin sub-styles, a new, easy to use configuration program, user customization options of fonts and colors in skins and much more.

Users who purchased WindowBlinds after February 1, 2007 will receive the update for free. The enhanced registered version is $19.95 or can be purchased as part of
Object Desktop, Stardock's flagship suite of desktop enhancement programs which includes IconPackager, DesktopX, ObjectBar, DeskScapes, LogonStudio Vista, and more.

Installed and awesome!!!!

Question though...still no transparancy on Office 2007 apps. Is that an Office 2007 issue? Fixable?

Office 2007 when on XP will not have skinned frames on the main window.  This is normal as Office 2007 is a self skinned app when on XP.  On Vista you do get the skinned frames.

Question: Does WindowBlinds 6 change the default behavior on Vista for maximizing windows? That is: is the option available to keep the taskbar and even the maximized window transparent? The default Vista behavior is that the taskbar and maxmized window become opaque -- I would prefer that the transparency remain or at least be configurable as to the level of transparency/opaqness.

Thanks to whoever answers my question

I believe it was said windowblinds 6 should include 5 new skins. As for now I see only 4. Will there be some new skins included in the near future?

DuffMastaJ: Since you reinstalled do you have the BSOD issue?

End of quote

an update: i rebooted with no BSOD. It would seem the culprit was having the beta already installed and overwriting it. I would advise ppl to remove the beta a do a clean install.

Hum I bought WB 5 in March of this year *which is after Feb*. I am having trouble finding my free upgrade or how I should go about my upgrade without having to pay the 15$ that the stardock cart prompts me too for the upgrade.

Am I doing something wrong? I have been eagerly awaiting this. I would appreciate any Help.

Thanks.

Anne

updated without uninstalling beta first, worked fine.

Still don't understand why applying skins now takes lomger by seconds, is going to cost me valuable time.

AnneMarie - I have the same problem. Logged in at Stardock Central but there's no update.
