Knitting Progress Pics

After not having much knitting time for several weeks I have finally had some decent time here and there to work on the Irish Hiking Scarf and have made some progress on it. I'm pretty happy with the way it's turning out even if it is only about 1/3 finished at this point.

It's really pretty.  The texture and colors are great.

I started to crochet a scarf but pulled my stitches too tight so the second row didn't work so well.  I'm going to try again.

I saw a fabulous ruffly scarf on Flickr but it was knitted not crocheted.  I wish I had enough time to learn everything I want to know.

It's absolutely beautiful! I love it!

Many of my friends knit or crochet. I've tried both, and unfortunately, I think I just have the kinds of hands that can't do either, or play piano. I guess I'll stick to my dorky embroidery.

Thanks.

It just takes practice. Nobody gets it right on the first try. If my big hands can do it, anyone can. My knitting improved when I stopped worrying about getting it perfect and just knit. There are some mistakes in my work but if it isn't too glaring I just fix it and go on. There is one hole in the scarf where I slipped a stitch instead of purling it (I was distracted talking to a woman) but since it's in the purl it really can't be seen unless you stretch out the stitches. I could have frogged it back to that point but just left it and moved on. It's not a gift, just something for myself, so I really don't care.

Besides, it's not a mistake it's a design feature

I like it too, very manly looking!

I'm not an expert knitter myself, heck I'm not even an amateur!! But I do enjoy knitting chains! That's all I can do right now until I can really make some time for learning more! I find it very relaxing!

Thanks. It really isn't all that hard, just a couple of sticks and some string.

That's a very handsome piece you're working on, Mason, and i too like the color scheme.

Thanks.
