SoundPackager Beta Released!

Available for Object Desktop Subscribers

https://www.stardock.com/products/soundpackager/

Stardock released the beta of SoundPackager, a new program that brings customization of your auditory experience to Object Desktop! SoundPackager is now available for Object Desktop users as a BETA announced today.

SoundPackager makes customizing your sound experience in Windows easy, by allowing users the ability to choose from "sound packages," eliminating the need to edit each system sound assignment individually.

SoundPackager supports over 30 different system sounds and includes unique Stardock Design sound packages that will eliminate the time that is consumed by users hunting down similar sounds to assign for each event.

With SoundPackager, sound packages come as a single file, opened through SoundPackager, containing sounds that are tailored to a specific theme (such as football, space, etc.). So now, when you apply a theme, 30+ sound events for Windows are updated to your favorite theme automatically! No more searching for sounds and assigning them each individually.

If you don’t have Object Desktop, visit www.objectdesktop.com to get it. Visit the SoundPackager home page at www.soundpackager.com.

The SoundPackager gallery on WinCustomize is now up, so you can now upload your sound packs for the rest of the community.

Brilliant!!!

One small gripe though- I get a Restore WIndows Default Error... The only info provided is:

Line 5

Thats it... does seem to have restored the defaults though! All I want now is a nice geeky one (think HAL and stuff like that) and maybe some aliens, babylon5, trek themes..

COOL!!

I had a Star Wars soundpackage software back in 1993 by a company called Sound Source running on Win 3.11.  It was truly awesome..  I wonder if I can still read the files?

As an aside . . are uploaded packages going to have to be user produced?  That could make moderation . . interesting.

Got this on install when clicking to run program now

Got this when trying to unload and restore original sounds

Uninstalled program, rebooted - Still have the "Football" sounds even though the program is supposedly uninstalled.

Is there a way to manually go back?

One of my favorite quotes:
"Nothing on earth is forcing you to install the beta versions. It can get rough on the bleeding edge. " -- Kris Kwilas, 'Essays on Mind and Matter'

I'd start with a new install.

I got "CLR error: 80004005. The program will now terminate as program finished install and on starting application. Jim

Apply your last System Restore point.

Apply your last System Restore point.

gary's solution is no doubt the quickest. You could open control panel, sounds and manually reset the sounds to system default through there as well. It's tedious but that's how we did it in the old days before this new-fangled SoundPackager.

I've been waiting for this for awhile. I don't much care for the football ones even though I love football. Looks like a winner, though mine crashed first time I ran it. Haven't tried any packages yet.

Sounds good, I've kinda been looking forward to this program. Although I'd rather see CursorVista...

This looks like a great addition to the already great apps. I wanted to check before I install it, if it works on Vista 64 or has anyone tried it on Vista 64. Asking since the web site says Vista (32).

Nice job again Stardock. Can't wait for the final release. Question, Why is the "Copy Sound Package" in the menu? Can you add "Delete Sound Package" in the menu? No problems with the Installation (WinXP Pro).

I'd guess it's so you can customize a pack without wrecking the original.
A delete would be a great option.

Do yourself a favor and save your current sound theme before using this program. Do that by going to the control panel, sound tab, and save your old sound scheme. Once you play with this program, go to control panel, sound, and select your original sound scheme from the drop down list. Then, do yourself another favor and uninstall this until they fix it and provide more themes.

WoooooooW!!!!! And we were only discussing sound themes on another thread in the forums and low and behold, here it is !!!!!! Perhaps that 'little nudge' helped the guys at Stardock bring it to us a little earlier than expected but Brad's cute and this makes 'business sense'. Always keep your products in the 'limelight'. Look at avenues to improve your existing products and add new products when you can. You are on a roll, Brad......With this little sound number and WB6 coming up..........and I take my hat off to you and everyone at Stardock.
