Tag-You're Out

Argumentitus Got You

This world is getting crazier by the minute. What will they think of next....hmmmmm?

The latest craziness is the fact that playground tag is now being banned in an elementary school in Colorado. Why you might ask? I thought at first maybe somebody was being pushed or shoved. Nope. That wasn't it.

The reason (and I'm not making this up) is there is too much conflict on the playground. Kids were starting to complain about being harassed. Harassed? How in the world can one be harassed while playing tag? I can almost see the first grader now whipping out his cell phone to call the family lawyer.

If one doesn't want to play, you just don't play. The kids that do want to play can figure this out. Don't go after little Susie, because she's not a player. Leave it at that. It's not fun to play with someone who doesn't care to run after you. Right?

I guess Nationally this game and others like it have been banned because of arguments. Well we can't have than now can we? I mean these kids have to learn to avoid anything or anyone that might inflict argumentitus on them. This is a serious condition and has to be reckoned with immediately.

The whole health and safety overprotective culture isn't doing our kids any favors. They need to learn through experiences that are now being taken away from them. How can they learn conflict resolution if they have their experiences taken away from them?

I remember when my kids were little and they would argue over a toy, or watching a favorite cartoon. I would give them a few minutes to work things out. When they didn't choose to do this, I would walk in, take the toy they were screaming about or shut off the TV. After a few times doing so, they figured it all out. I used to even hear them whisper, "she's going to come in and shut off the tv." They got it. They figured out how to resolve the issue. To this day, it's helped them tremendously.

I suppose I could have taken all their toys and thrown them away all for the sake of that dreadful argumentitus. Hmmmm I wonder if they will start innoculating for this anytime soon?

Spot on - its total garbage.

It will not be long before running is banned in case the little darlings fall over and scrap their knees, war is replaced by the term "conflict", and yellow brick roads are given out with the morning paper. Completely insane.

(Yay I'm a crusty and for that I would like to thank my Parents, my manager, my teacher, the dog, the cat, the budgie, and all you ( *sniff" ) beautiful people out there ..... )

It is just another aspect of the nanny government.  Cant hurt anyone's self esteem, now can we?

You can't even play tag in school anymore. Or touch football. Or anything else, really. Recess is cancelled, kids, because you're not allowed to do anything active anyway.

Go ahead, say I'm trying to protect my kids from the world, shield them by homeschooling. But my kids will be allowed to play tag and football with each other at recess.

I saw this and mentioned it on another article. Can you picture one of these kids being kicked out of school for tagging someone?

A interviews Joe Somebody about the recent massacre.

"So Mr Somebody, why did you do it?"

"I don't know, I was angry?"

"I see you didn't finish school? Why was this?"

"I was suspended from school for tagging another kid"

"Did this drive you to kill?"

"Maybe".

I know this is a bit exaggerated, but you never know.

BTW, I have to ask, is this Bush's fault as well?

Yes. If he had disbanded the national education system the schools wouldn't have any money, and therefore wouldn't have to pay out any lawsuits.

Even 1/4 of Col is 1/4 to much. I much rather be sent to Iraq than to be named anything like that "man".

Charles that's a really stupid thing to say.

Little Whip:
If people weren't so freakin' sue-happy in this country our kids might be able to enjoy their childhood again. I think this has less to do with wanting to protect children than with protecting the school district's coffers. In a way, I can't say I blame them.

As always. Dead on target.

And FYI my child got in trouble for "slapping" another child last year.

He was playing tag.

Maybe, but that's your opinion.

If you want to know how you can stop being "misunderstood" and hated on and make friends I can give you a great tip:

Don't piss me off.

But Tex, it's so much fun to piss you off. It entertains the people.

But I agree with her here.

"And FYI my child got in trouble for "slapping" another child last year.

How much trouble? Sometimes you can tag really really hard...

OK, OK. I take it back. You're a nice person and have tolerated my stupidity before. My bad.

But keep in mind Tex, you can be nice, that doesn't mean I will bow down every time I say something that bugs you. I know you are sensitive to anything military. But keep in mind this is the US and I have the right to say what I please and I'm not always gonna take a step back if I don't think I said anything wrong. I kinda notice you are getting to use to attacking me looking for excuses to be mad at me and make me look like a jerk. Here's some advice for you, ignore me if you have to as much as possible, I don't usually say things looking to offend anyone.

Not any serious kind of trouble. Just an office referral. I blogged about it.

I think I am going to slap the shit out of someone today at random and then tell them I was playing tag.

Office referal may be a bit harsh, even. I mean, if a kid just doesn't know what he's doing, ie, tagging a little roughly, that's the kind of thing you can just say "Don't tag so roughly, please." and fix. Bah.
