Wow! Good find!

The graphics in those shots look amazing! The detail and vibrant colours look awesome (not to mention the vast majority of them feature everyone's favourite skybox)

i don't think i've ever had a planet with rings

they are very rare, but is easier to find in beta 2, but still rare

Something I'd like to see is to be able to make custom games with the option to choose the types of planets you want. Msybe a slider with % of gas, arid, ringed, etc...

I've only had two ringed planets, a volcanic and a desert one.

I've had a terran planet with a ring... although you would think the meteorites would you know... stop civilization? ripp up the terran surface? KILL PEOPLE???

uhm... nr... if they werent in a decaying orbit they would never reach the planet, and even if they did, the largest stuff would be bashed apart by all the other stuff. This smaller stuff would just go bibi in the atmosphere.

rings inherently bombard the lower planet, even excluding the lower orbits which do decay rather rapidly, large chunks are constantly blasted off from collisions and come into contact with the planet. and besides, the rather slow descent speed means that most debris would get through, and teh larger pieces could do some serious surface damage. no ELEs, though.

pfff, the space ponies would protect us!

Schem, if it makes you feel better, terran home worlds can't have rings. There's a 5% chance on regular planets (not asteroids, no rings for them).

I'm being technical strattegi, it allows me to muse over the impossibilities in games (I really have to stretch for these space RTSs)

really? I swear I had rings around my homeworld once...
