New to this!

Hi im new to all this so ill introduce my self im ray i build show cars. Some of my cars have been winners at major shows donny, trax ect and had features in many mags

Right now im working on a full custom c2 vts sponsored by carzone specials.

So something i have never installed before is a in car pc entertainment system. So ive built a small custom pc and installed a touch screen monitor in a fiberglass enclosure in the dash and hooked the pc audio into the cars sound system.

But the next step i want to do is a full custom windows: new boot skin, theme and basically change it all.

So im gonna start with the boot skin. Whats the best software to use to make a custom boot skin iv seen the amazing ones that you guys have created and would like to get into this?

Thanks Ray

A DesktopX interface might make navigation of your new system eaiser.

I agree that incorporating a DesktopX Theme into your system would definitely spice things up. DesktopX themes can be used for Kiosks and simplifying interfaces. When I get around to building a carpc myself, this is what I will use

And i see what you mean on a car pc thees would be great. One question i have downloaded desktopX and had a play. But is this the full program i have downloaded??? or is it just a trial version?
It was free but i cant recall anything about it being a trial? As i have also been trying windows blinds but i know its a trial.

Oh news on my boot skin i took a couple of attempt on the codes. But i got it in the end.
A few days ago i didn't know what a boot screen was and now i can make one.

So my next step is to improve the looks of the car pc its self. As all the component are gonna be visible through the perspex i have got some uv sleeving, cold cathodes, led fans, and more. Just to make it a bit more special to look at. At the moment everything just screwed to a board in the boot for testing
and programing. But i haven't finished the fiber glass sub install yet. So that has to be done first as it holds the pc aswell. but the perspex is on order to make the custom case.
The monitor is in place but its only temp due to the dash is coming out to install another screen, gauges and some speakers then smoothed out and painted

So im getting a digital camera soon so ill show you all the pc, and the car too just about every panel is being custom made by carzone special. So far i have the front bumper the rest is still being fabricated. Im regretting taking on all this work. Due to im out of practice about a year and a half ago i said i was never gonna build a show car again after spending 6 months hard labor and spending 20k doing a saxo for aurora ms. But the sponsor ship from carzone i couldn't refuse! And im still in recovery from a accident at work last sept involving a explosion and me having my back skin graphed which wasnt than nice but getting a lot of comp so isnt so bad.

but after this i will have 5 show cars, 12 cars restored, 1 classic, and a splx audio demo van.
Under my belt. The classic ford was the worst job ever the bodywork was so crumbly and rusty i had to basically fabricate the whole thing buy the guy was very pleased with the result. And the splx demo van was mental 20 15” subs i done all the interior work on it. Since then it has had a body make-over but that wast me. So if you at any car show in the uk look out for it.

Where did you get it from? Download.com?

DesktopX starts at $14.95

The one at download says: License:Free to try; $24.95 to buy
