Computer Generosity factor

I don't know if this is different in D.A..... but the computers really tick me off when I try to trade with them most of the deals they except are nowhere near an even trade, it's like giving them free stuff, unless you have a huge diplo. skill and reall good relation with that race.

Anyway, I was thinking that each race could be given a "generosity" factor, where as, the higher the generosity factor the less stubborn they will be in trade deals.

So, for instance the drengin would have nearly no generosity, taking only deals that benefit their side, while the drath would be huge charity orginizers.

Yes trade is very unequal in DL but it is workable, so enjoy it!

It is not even worth the effort to bother opening the trade screen in DA, trade is dead.

I find that trade is worth it in DA for one thing: Make whatever deal you need to in the very early game to get EVERYONE to assign their research treaty to you.

Luckily, there are a few early techs that the AI values highly: Trade, Adv Trade (its generally beneficial to player for AI to have these, anyway), Soil Enhancement (hey, you're eventually going to take his planet anyway, right?), Extreme Colonization (once you've nailed the nearby enviro planets), some others.

I will also trade pretty liberally with the minor races. The bleed over of other majors getting techs from the minors that I have traded away does not seem to be too common. Nothing I can trade to them will stop me from taking a one-system civ once I am ready to do it, so that's not a factor. Plus it tends to sometimes keep a minor in the game, absorbing Korath, etc, attention and keeping the heat off ME. The ideal situation is to find a minor that is getting kicked in the teeth by some major, and trade exorbitantly of every tech they have, practically giving away your best stuff to get every tech they have of any interest...1 or 2 turns beofre they get nuked out of existance. I get a warm (radioactive) glow when that happens according to plan.
