All I can say is no, no, absolutely NO to forum signatures. Having been a moderator on a fairly large site before I can say that they are nothing but trouble and the last thing I want to see is here is signatures. They're nothing but vehicles for spamming, advertisement, and other such crap. They're unnecessary and would clutter up forum posts and detract from the *real* content of a post/reply. (Can you tell I hate them? I was in charge for enforcing signature rules for almost the entire forum...ugh it was a *nightmare*.)

However, increasing the size for the avatars would be nice. 50x50 is so small....90x90 would be decent (but still no .gifs - animation, yuck).

Hey Bebi; not sure, was that a definite no to sigs.

Would be nice, I agree about the gifs; allowing pngs would be nice.

I'm with Bebi......also, think of how much longer it would take to load a thread the size of, say, What Are You Workin On? if each post had a signature image attached to it on top of the ave and the preview of the work. Yikes.

the new Vista user pic size of 64x64 would be fine...(oh my,did I actually say something nice about Veeesta?)

My sentiments 100%.
I've seen some forum threads [not here, thankfully] where 90% of the text content was the various 'sigs'....generally effectively spamming self-promotion, often as inane and unsuitable as "my manhood rawks"....followed by some political dissertation about how Bush is an arsewipe and Mac users are all limp-wristed faggots [clumps of twigs].
Then the poster with the mostest BS then posts numerous comments as pithy and salient as 'lol' 'haha' 'ROFLMAO'.

That's not communication....it's farting by text.

Can you tell I hate them too?....

I agree with all the above as well, but I also think the avatar size is fine. Those can get out of hand also. Lets see it tested out....

a 90x90
a 64x64
a 50x50

I'd like to see 64 too.. it is a customization site, we could be more expressive with a few more pixels.. and i might be able to squeeze maxstyles.com onto one line !

Signatures, waste of time and really slow down page loading.

Blah!

...to forum sigs.

though I'd agree with the 64 x 64 avatars.

I agree to larger avatars, I Believe they express personality per user.
But Signatures... they are just another way to Spam or waste valuable space.

By the way I like the 90x90 size, but the one below can do.

Last thing we need here is a bunch of obnoxious flashing gif avatars...bad enough we have people cluttering up threads with those awful things. :X Sure some people might know how to do it in moderation....but others don't.

but others don't

oh well, that's avatarsism!

So I take it nobody's up for flashing personal sigs or 90x90 avatars. Dammit, that carboshes me using summat that really expresses my handle/nick then!

I was wondering how I'd convey the waft of curried cabbage on line...thanks for the idea.

maybe I'm going out on a limb here...but shouldn't a good skinner be able to get expressive by desinging ANY size avatar and WITHOUT the annoying signatures...I mean, Hey..we're customizers....just customize the 50 X 50 square...consider it a challenge!
Can some one pls tell me the sign is off but atleast consider either the 90 X 90 or the 64 x 64 avatar on or is that off too ?

I vote for 64 x 64 Avatar

Then I get a bigger Squiggle

( animated avatars are cool - I have same Avatar on DA and it has a little twinkle - nothing flashy - but animation slows down the pages )

Your squiggle is quite large enough already

64X64 would be cool i vote for

Well It seems mostly everyone voted for 64x64 , but not for sigs (which is a good thing). Ah well... maybe SD will be generous and give us another forum upgrade.
