MODS NOT SHOWING UP IN GAME

Hello again, I have done everything that the instructions given to me in the read me text has asked. I have unzipped in my "fav. mod folder" but do not see anything showing up in my mod directory. am i suppose to see them, did i unzip in the wrong folder, what did i do wrong these are the questions i need help with. If you have any information you can provide a noob like me i would greatly appreciate it. thank you very much

In the game options, where it shows Mods, select default first. That should show any mods that you have placed into your DA mod folder.
Or if you only have DL, in the DL mod folder.

I'm having this exact problem and the mods aren't showing up in the area where it displays the mods. I have use mods activated I have started the game many times and I can't make any changes to the mod directory and I can't select any mods. The game is not allowing me to do anything related to mod selection or directory changes.

Are you using mods designed for use with the mods folder (some, particularly older ones, are not)?

Where are you placing them at?

What version of the game (patch and DL/DA) are you using?

I think I figured out what is the problem. I just discovered this game a few days ago and bought the gold edition, so i am unfamiliar with pretty much everything with the game. So When I did the mods I placed them in the mods folder and in other directories as per their instructions. I have 1.6xx version for dark avatar downloaded just the other day. Where all the confussion is happening for us new players is that it apprears that if you want to use the mods with dark avatar you have to place those mods in a the dark avatar sub folder. What adds to the greater confussion is the dark avatar doesn't have a mods folder. Well I made a mods folder in the dark avatar folder and things seem to be working.
