WC Wiki: One Week In

Impressive for only 7 days work

http://wiki.wincustomize.com

A week ago today, the WC Wiki opened up to the community, and the response has been fantastic!  Here are a few statistics for those first seven days.  Considering the nature of the project (community-driven documentation), I'm very happy with the results.  In time, I hope to be able to point most user questions to the Wiki.

Week One Statistics:

  • Nearly 10,000 page views!
  • 89 Registered Users
  • 321 Total Pages
  • 163 Uploaded Files

Users like SViz, Digitalchet, SK Originals, Quentin94, GreenReaper and JESUSFRK14 have been dominating the recent changes list, providing dozens of updates and improvements to product pages like SkinStudio, DesktopX, Xion, SidebarStyler and more.

Here are a few of, what I consider, the best pages on the wiki.  They're well built, written and maintained.  These should be used as examples whenever anyone looks to create a page on the wiki.

  • WindowBlinds: A Complete Guide to the Start Panel [Part 1] [Part 2]
A great pair of tutorials written by SK Originals
  • Creating an ObjectDock Dock Background From a WindowBlinds Skin
Originally written by WebGizmos in April, SK Originals brings this essential ObjectDock tutorial to the wiki
  • AveDesk: Basics
A very detailed introduction to using AveDesk on your Windows PC, written by Champion Wiki Editor, BebiBulma.
  • The DesktopX Product Page
This is the sort of information and detail we love to see on the wiki.  Big kudos to BebiBulma, Quentin94, CerebroJD and SViz for doing the bulk of this page.

In addition to all of this, DoctorNick is working diligently to build a custom skin for the wiki to make it match the look and feel of the main WinCustomize site.  Progress so far is very promising and we hope to be able to give you a preview of it very soon!

I just added a Rainlendar tutorial. Look it over; add to it; corrections if needed; whatever you may think it needs.

Fantastic addition. This is exactly what so many of us have wanted. In just a few minutes I found the answer to something that has bugged me every time I try to change the fonts in a default WindowBlind using Skin Studio. Thanks.

I'm excited about the wiki as a learning resource. It provides a central hub and a nice structure for us to put any help information; from faqs to tutorial series. I hope to see more WC citizens, Masters and everyone in between over there.
