need help with cheat codes

i have the target all set up just like this
"C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GC2Launch.exe" cheat
but i cant get any of the cheats to work i need help to figure this out
any one got any ideas

That is because you need to use GalCiv2.exe directly - not GC2Launch.exe.

Open Windows Explorer and drag out (via right-click) GalCiv2.exe to the desktop to make a shortcut.
Then modify the Target to be "C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\GalCiv2.exe" cheat

i did that and it still doent work any ideas
