Social Networking Sites Becoming Part of Daily Life

A few weeks ago a poll was posted on WinCustomize asking if our members are users of social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace.  The results were pretty clear and the overwhelming majority of responders said they don't visit these sites.  Well today a survey was released last week that stated that over 20 percent of internet users worldwide reported visiting social networking sites within a 30 day period.

The report also claims that Brazil, China, Mexico, South Korea, and the United States are the top five countries of adult users visiting these sites.  The U.S. was in fifth place with 24 percent of users reporting that they visit social network sites regularly.  The study also noted that adult participation in video sites such as YouTube have also increased in the past couple of years with over 75 percent of respondents visiting video sites within a months time.

It's no doubt video submission and viewing sites like YouTube and MetaCafe are increasingly popular, and their popularity seems to be growing.  I enjoy watching videos on these sites, and visit them regularly, so do you visit video sites on a regular basis?

I visit Facebook usually once daily and Digg/Reddit/Slashdot at least a few times every day. I like to be informed and connected.

I dont visit any social networking sites. Im a hermit and practice that to perfection. As for youtube and metacafe, i used to visit the latter but it became a place of useless videos for people who wants to earn that quick buck. Now i stick to spikedhumor because it cuts most of that rubbish which both of them have.

youtube sometimes is funny as hell. I have seen the greatest and the worst stuff there but you have to give it a look to see what is good and whats just junk. People will still do anything for 15 minutes of fame, just look at reality talent shows, and reality tv, are you kidding me. Game shows included, as well as Oprah, Dr. Phil and even Divorce court, some of these people are your neighbors? Scary isn't it. Some people on here would shock us if we knew what their lives were really like. Networking sites are no different. Everyone who uses a computer looks at different sites and now and then will visit one, why is it so important to you? Did someone think it strange that you look at those sites? I sure hope not. They are safe ways to see some idiot get smacked in the face with his own skateboard over a stupid stunt he should have never tried, some are not for the faint of heart, some not for kids, some just plain stupid. But entertainment is just that, if it makes you laugh then go for it. Laughter is good for you.

Yea, in whose daily life, not anyone I know. I am closing in on 60 yrs old, use the computer alot but could care less about YouTube and what ever other sites you have mentioned.

My social networking consits of stuff like going outside the house watering the flower beds and talking to the neighbors. Oh my god, I just remembered I still use a pencil and paper to write notes to people!!!!!  

I quess I'm just not with it, do people still say that?
