Peace is Restorative

With palms together,
Good Morning Everyone,

There is no hope, there is only you and me making our universe. My universe is full of demons and angels. It is a universe of anger and suspicion, love and compassion. Friend and foe. My universe is full of wonder. The cricket orchestra in the morning is a delight to my ears. The scent of incense beckons. The light of the alter candle helps open my eyes. And my skin feels the zafu support me with the help of the earth beneath.

I find it is far easier to recognize my anger and suspicion today. I see it coming just before it turns the corner to come into view. I see it resting on the edge of my mind's horizon, waiting. When it does come out into the open, I see it now as my own suffering.

May I receive this suffering with deep compassion. May I honor my father and mother. May I embrace my wife. May I love those who would harm me.

I so often hear my father's voice within me. Such deep suffering. Angry, drunk, hurt, confused: he stumbled through life trying to find a way to be recognized as a human being.

This voice is the voice of God, I think, wanting reconciliation with his people.

Peace, then, is simple. Eh? It is reconciliation. It is restorative. Peace is wholeness, oneness, complete acceptance of everything. For me to be peace I must accept my father within me, the war, the anger, the suspicion. I must embrace these for what they are, expressions of being out of balance. To keep them apart requires a separation and a great deal of energy. I think I am getting too old for that. Time to surrender and welcome all.
