Logon are slow...why? Please help

I'm a newb...just got the stardock desktop package with everything else.

I made my own logon with logon studio and when I apply it it's very slow.  Anybody know what I'm doing wrong.  I'm using .bmp images for the center image and everytime I make the image big enough to fit my screen, it slows down.  The image size isn't bigger than some of the other logons I've downloaded.

Please help...

thank you

well, I'm running XP Pro SP2. By "very slow" I mean that when I roll the mouse over the logon buttons or user icon area in order to log on, the reactions to my mouse are slow. It's as if you're running too many tasks at ounce and your computer slows down. But I'm not running too many tasks, all I have open is Logon Studio.

The .bmp image i'm using is not too big. I checked the resolution (72) and the dimensions and it's not big at all. There's no reason why the logon screen should be lagging like it is.

anybody know what's up?

PS - I've tried using different .bmp images and it's the same problem with all of them.

how about the ones that come with LogonStudio?

the ones that come with logon studio work fine as far as speed is concerned. The one problem with those logons is that the center image doesn't cover the entire screen. They only cover the upper left side of the screen and parts of the adjacent areas. There is an empty space on the bottom and right side of the screen (kinda like a backwards "L" shape).

I tried stretching those logons (the ones the studio came with) to fit the entire screen. It solves the problem of the screen, but then it becomes a little slow.
