Bill Gates.....Dethroned?

For over 13 years Bill Gates has topped the Forbes list of billionaires, but according to a Mexican financial news service, Gates might have dropped to number two. Mexican telecommunications "tycoon", Carlos Slim, has reportedly taken the title as the worlds richest person because of a 27 percent stock surge which brings his worth close to $67.8 billion.

Slim, who controls Mexico's largest telephone company had recently taken over the number two spot held by Warren Buffett. This report has not taken into account Gates recent earnings, so Gates may still keep the title when Forbes updates the list again next March.

But of all the things to place number two at, I wouldn't complain about this one.

- hmmmm....I don't know how I could manage on that, I would really have to learn how to budget and live within my means, not sure if I could change my spending habits plus there's inflation to deal with......

Im not sure I belive this one at all...This guy is realatively unknowen and really only has intrest in Mexico...So how can he dethrone a man who's operating system is on the majority of the worlds pc's be overthrown by a mexican "Land Line based" phone company...That does not make any sense at all...think about Donald Trump, or Warren Buffet...Or even the owners of Toyota..I mean really...A phone company??? What about Quest and Bell...Im not quite sure how the derived this dude as ther richest, but Im sure it isnt correct...the logistics just do not add up.

im seriously doubting this one .. sounds like a piece of fluff.mainly a bunch of drivel.. not to mention he didnt take in to account other holdings of gates which possibly tally up more than half of his total worth...sounds to me bill would still be in the lead with all things added up....

Yeah, just going on the stock value is kind of limited. How much are Gates Real Estate holdings from his initial $600million back in the '80s?

Probably not as much as the third of stock he sold would be worth today but, I wouldn't doubt they are pushing high single billions!

Man.. that money wouldn't last long in my pockets. I think I would bye a small country or something and rename it! "Dark-Star-land" has a nice ring to it. It would be the biggest theme park on the planet! Why, I'd even have dinosaurs!
