planet and star textures borrowed from celestia?possible or no

Ok I was wondering, I own Celestia( free planetarium software) and It is heavily modded at the moment with tons of planet, asteroid and star textures,(not to mention nebulae, black holes ,and comets)I noticed that the planets in galactic civilizations are basically the same kind of models and textures. is it possible for me to swap or just add some more planet textures to the game with my existing ones from celestia. if so do i need to resize them to a certain size and where would i locate the files i need to modify .or folders i need to add to also do i need bumpmaps or just textures?

if this is possible would i be able to also add black hole textures to anomolies and asteroids also?

Most if not all my planet textures are from Celestia, especially terraformed Mars, with a suitably altered PQ level
As far as I know, the textures have to be in PNG, and i'm not sure you can use the bump and specular maps from Celestia... though I have been thinking on experimenting.....

I guess, you could change what texture the asteroids use, i've not thought about that before, so good point, i'm going to check. lol

As for the black hole, again, I have no idea on that, though someone who is a modder rather than a tinker Monkey would be able to answer you that.

@Pmutzu: you can swap the existing planet textures, and possibly you can add some PQ 0 level planet textures, like the rock and gas giants. they should be named C0, C1 etc...
I think the Game will use them. but the Game makes its own PQ 1+ planets, they have no single texture, but like patchwork, douzen of small landscapes (Terrain), wich will be matched together. Therefore, every habitable planet is unique. Changing the Terrain images, won't effect a higher quality on the planet surface, as I tested this already, it will be shaded diffuse. bumpmaps won't be shaded by planets. theres just one lightmap for all planets.

Asteroid textures, are very easy to change, just edit the existing image. and blackhole, a little skill in photoshop or gimp, and you could edit the wormhole anomaly too.

hope this helps

Pmutzu, here are a few images of altered wormhole and asteroids... you got me thinking, so i give it a go.

If it gets approved, they should be up in the library soon, with some variations to colour and texture etc.
If the pics don't show up as thumbnails, the link should take you straight there:
