A few simple questions

from GalCiv2 Forums
Two questions from a newbie who dont understand the relationship between the GL2 and its expansion:

1. Does the DA expansion add or change anything to the core DL game? In other words, if you plat DL, does the DA expansion have any effect on it?
2. Will the core game, DL, recieve any more patches? In other words, can I play DL, without worrying that it will need another patch?

DA doesn't change the core DL game.
DA and DL are separate programs, except DA uses some core files from DL.
For me once I played DA, I don't plan on going back to play DL anymore. The AI in DA is better, and gameplay is better.

DL doesn't receive anymore patches.

DL will be getting the Vista compatibility changes that were made in DA, but I'm not aware of any other plans for it.

The Gold Edition includes/installs both complete game versions (sans latest free download updates) for less money than DL + DA expansion, AND it integrates the DL campaign to be playable with the DA engine. Nice keyboard shortcut map, too. Hint.
