i have the same problem Whenever i try to apply one of the skins i download from this site, it converts to windows classic theme it bugs me..........i have vista ultimate, my graphics index is 1.0 my windows blinds enhanced is active and everything please someone tell me what can i do????

Ok just read ur post there mesleper.I rebooted and had the same problem u did with it going back to the classic theme.Im going to try a few other things with it tomorrow and ill keep u posted.

I fixed my problem and I have restarted my computer 3 times to test it and I do not have to turn off anything. the problem appears with stardock central and windowblinds when I installed 5.51.025 (the latest upgrade) I uninstalled windowblinds and then uninstalled stardock central the applied the classic theme, and restarted my computer the I installed stardock central and then installed windowblinds. and restarted my computer it worked I was able to intall a skin again Hooray I don't know if it will help anyone else but I hope so. I restarted my computer two more times to make sure it still worked so far it is running great. good luck

Ok i emailed support and here is the response i got to fix the startup problem and it works.......It sounds like the WindowBlinds service is not running on startup. The only cause for this would be if something were preventing it from running at startup. As most security applications do not offer a "disable even through restart" feature, the only workaround may be to uninstall this.


What you may be able to do to alleviate the issue is put a shortcut to wbload.exe in your startup directory (to have this file executed on startup).

Thanks Pentjakmagick. I exchanged some e-mail from Bitdefender and they mailed me an uninstall utility to try. What's curious is the WB service you refer to does not show up in my services list, yet I am able to run WB 5.50 without it being there. It's only with 5.51 that WB won't start up automatically.

My plan is to drop this issue for now, stick with 5.50, and keep my fingers crossed that what I'm seeing won't be there with the next WB upgrade. If it is, I'll try uninstalling Bitdefender and see if that works. I appreciate greatly you posting your findings.

Yea i have the same issue as u mesleeper.there is no service showing up in the services and i think it has to do with bitdefender blocking it from installing and loading on startup.What i did was copy the exe to the startup folder and it reapply s the skin during startup.its kind of annoying to do it that way but at least it works.i can say for sure though it is an issue with bitdefender,hopefully the new windowsblinds will fix this problem.by the way anyone know where i can get a copy of 5.50?

pentjakmagick - contact SD Tech Service, they'll set up a link for you to download 5.50. You might have more luck than I had, but once I installed 5.51, I was not able to fix the problem by uninstalling 5.51 and then re-installing 5.50. The only way I could get 5.50 to work again was to restore from a backup I had BEFORE 5.51 was installed.

This issue worries me. My suspicion is neither Stardock nor Bitdefender will see this as a big enough issue to waste resources to resolve. We may have to make a decision which of the two programs are more important to us.

Here is a throwaway e-mail address I have - mesleeper*aol.com. Replace the * with an @. Hopefully that will keep the e-mail harvesters away Let's stay in touch by e-mail. There might be an ultimate solution and with both of us looking it should increase our odds of finsinf it.

Pentjakmagick - I think we have a SOLUTION to our problem. Everything you describe mirrors my observations. Check out the thread "Adding the Windowblinds Service Manually." What I describe there I think will work for you too. Please let me know if it works. My fingers are crossed.
