Problem I can't figure out

I recently bought GalCiv2 gold, and I love it. My only problem is that I can only play as the Terran Alliance (it won't allow me to pick any other race, or make my own), and I can play against no more or less than four opponents (will not allow me to make any change to the number). And it is always the same four (Drengin, Torians, Altarians, and Arceans). Can anyone help me figure out what the deal is? Thanks!

See if you have a scenario selected, on the very first set up screen. Read over the manual section on the game parameters setup options. The pre-set scenarios all limit your choices. For sandbox mode, you should be selecting a galaxy size, and the other galaxy and scenario parameters should be on "None" or "Normal".

Thanks, I'm an idiot. Had it set to "Classic Galaxy". Played it like that for 8 games. Thanks a ton!
