Capital Ship questions and suggestions

im sure some of these subjects have been addressed but i have so many different thoughts on the cap ships that i thought i'd put them all in one place.

Maybe a small point but, naming your ships and their commanders would be kind of cool. Let you get a little more attached to them. I know in GalCiv i use to name my ships. And the idea of naming "myself" as Admiral of one ship and then naming sum of my buddies as commanders in my fleet of other cap ships would be a nice lil touch.

Another thing from GalCiv designing your own ships. Will this be an option in Sins, i believe it could be one of the most popular options if avialible, everyone has an idea in their head of what their perfect fleet would look like as it comes out of a phase jump. and i use to spend hours deciding not only what my ships would look like but what i could squeeze on to them with out filling all the available space.

maybe something that can be researched as the ability to jump as "one" from planet to planet. when i ask my fleet to jump from planet x to planet y, it'd be nice if they all got out of the grav well; calculated their jumps and jumped together or some what close together. having to manually place them outside the grav well for a sumwhat simultaneous jump is kind of tedious and time consuming. they're a fleet they should know to stick together.

just a few thoughts i had, im sure i have more but im at work and i dont have anymore time to play on the forums.

You will be able to name your capital ships, as they are the heroes of your game. The button to do this, along with other unknown functions is currently disabled.

Sovas can already go up to 6 command points

Plus, they are powerful combatants by themselves.

Agreed!

You will be able to name your ships in the future and you can jump as a single unit now by selecting a group of ships and right clicking the movement button until you see 3 green arrows. You can get a more elaborate example of this in the advanced interface tutorial.

These are interesting ideas. How do you see yourself defending your planets in the solar system when they can be attacked from all sides?

[raises hand]

Umm....

Mr. Kott-ter!!! I know... I know...

Carefully!!!

[gets lots of spit balls shot at him from all directions and a book tossed from the direction of the teacher]

Seriously we basically have that situation now with the pirates groups and I for one like it mainly because it fits my style of game play.

As has been noted previously, this won't be an option in Sins. It just doesn't really work in a real-time game (multiplayer, particularly), among other reasons. You will be able to add new models via the modding tools, but that's another thing entirely.

This should be put in the FAQ... wherever it is
