Questions on invading an extreme colony.

I have some simple questions on invading extreme colonies.

1.When you invade an extreme colony, like Barren or Radioactive, are you require to research that specific technology to colonize it first before an invasion force can even land on this world, much less maintain it if you win the invasion?

2. If you do not have to research this specific technology first to invade an extreme world, would not your troops be at a disadvantage, like the effects of heavy gravity or unable to breath? If by some miracle you win this world, later on would you be able to colonize other worlds like it as the game goes on?

You can freely invade special planets you haven't obtained the tech for, but you won't have any production until you do. Basically, you can take over domed cities, but can't build any more.

i did not know that. i woud have said no.

So if the AI had already built on it, would you be able to profit from those buildings?

Now i hate to get technical but if you invaded using "information warfare" and won, some of your forces were already living on that world, wouldn't you be able to keep those people withpout having the colonization tech?

a good fix (not that one is even needed, but...) woul;d be to have that tech automatically be the one you take from that race when you win their planet.

You can freely invade special planets you haven't obtained the tech for, but you won't have any production until you do.

True, however you'll have normal research output, and normal taxes and influence, and normal pop growth on that red-marked planet. The only thing you'll not have is production from factories. But you can still buy structures on that planet. And if there are some labs, and you're research heavy, you can have some production on that planet by using the focus. It's not penalized by red/yellow planet.

Don't. Take every planet you can, because besides gaining a colony for you and taking one from AI, there's also a quite good chance you'll get with your invasion the tech for colonizing that extreme environment. I won one game with just researching all invasion branch and not a single extreme tech. Got 4 of them with invasions, and many more nice techs also.
