Breaking treaty

Sorry for the simple question

I want to start a war with a civ that I am "teamed" with. The dialog says I have to cancel the alliance first (using the diplomacy window) How do I do this? Is the Diplomacy window the forign relations treaties screen?

Thanks

If you started a game with an AI set to 'team' status, the alliance is permanent and cannot be broken (that is rather the point of a team!).

is THAT what team is? i was going to get around to asking that. its something that you have to set before the game starts?

does this count as an alliance?

Thanks

Do you know which file controls the initial teaming. I started Teamed with the dregian empire and so I can not eliminate them. Now all new games start with me teamed with the bad guys. I did get them down to one planet with lots of high powered influence bases

I was fiddling the Race file to understand how things work. I don't think I changed anything else. But that is when this start to show up. I put back the original but the problem did not go away. I know I should have used the mod file, next time.

I also updated to the most recent thing (as of Thursday or about). Dark Avatar

The game seems to remember things from new game to new game (like point allocation) is there a way to re-initialize this (Thinking that this may be the problem)

If I have to re-install will that mess-up the serial number thing?

Sorry for all of the newbe questions

Just set the relations setting to something else when you add them to the game and pick their difficulty.

Ability picks and other customization are in the .raceconfig files in My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 for DL, or the .raceconfigxml files in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar for DA. Just delete or move those files somewhere else to clear all customizations to the races, unless you manually changed the files in GalCiv2\Data\English. In the latter case you'll need to reinstall if you didn't make backups first.

Thank again.

By the way it is possible to break team if you get the assasinate leader event

Someone on one of of my planets took out Lord Kona and his replacement declared war

The head of the replacement (Azulus sp?) is now on a pike at the Galatic capital in Saline Michigan! And the planet of the assasin has several new virtual reality centers
