Soldiers - Walking Hand in Hand With Beauty and Destruction

A Photographic Tribute To The Soldiers Life

The military pictures seen below can be found on the following site. Kudos to the photographer Tam MacDonald for the spectacular pics.

Whilst doing a temp assignment at the MOD (Ministry of Defence) I saw these remarkable photos and asked if I could use the pictures on my blog and I was given the website address to access them after the photographer was contacted to request copies for use on the blog. Please note I use the word soldier to encompass the entire forces – army, air, and navy.

The first image on the first slide show, made an impact on me when I first saw it. What that impact is, I do not know nor fully understand. What struck me is the beauty, the sunset to be exact and the soldiers that add to the beauty rather oddly.

The soldiers standing silhouetted against the setting sun, the picture looks so peaceful, so quiet. Nature has painted a tranquil setting. The irony in the picture grabs me. I associate soldiers with war, bomb blasts, guns, grenades the usual imagery of war comes to mind when I see a soldier or a picture of a soldier. Do not get me wrong, please. I have a great respect for our boys and girls in the forces and I appreciate the risks they take every day for our freedom. I intend no disrespect with what I say or post here, only to honour them. The rest of the pictures on the first slideshow are more of the same peaceful, tranquil beauty with soldiers in them.

The second slide show is intended to show the actions they have to take to give us our freedom. Again the first picture is striking. The expression on this young mans face is a study in itself. A spectacular portrait shot.

The reality of a soldier’s life is; war, guns, grenades, risks and fighting for freedom and peace, it is what those that are against peace do that is so soul destroying. So for contrast to these magnificent pictures displayed in the first and second slide show I have added a slide show of the reality.

The third slideshow is one of the type of death and destruction our soldiers see almost every day out there while we sit at home comfortable in our living rooms. The pictures on this slide show have just been taken randomly from the internet, they have not been researched for the history behind them, and they are displayed purely for the image of harm suffered. I am sure if I spent more time looking I could find many more pictures of death and destruction that the arseholes against peace cause out there.

Beauty Surrounds our Soldiers as they fight to keep freedom and democracy around the world.

Ships, Helicopters, Planes infantry and so many more. Each working together for our safety and our comfort.

What our forces are fighting against – terror, destruction, loss of freedom, pain, fear and death. Every day they go out there and face the bullets and the bombs, risking their lives for us, for you and for me.

May I take this opportunity to say thank you to each and every one of you for the freedom I have each day. God Bless you all and keep you safe to see a new day each day.

Thank them when you see them on the street.  I hear they are getting a rough time over there for this war that many of your fellow countrymen do not like.

When people ask me what it's like to be in a war, I tell them; "Every emotion you can think of, we felt it."

I'll echo Dr. Guy here... while your sentiments are appreciated here, make sure you let every vet and servicemember you know that you appreciate what they have done for you.

I have not heard the like?
If I saw them in the street I would Doc, but I do not, so hence I pay tribute here.

It must be something quite terrible to experience and go through, even if you have had the training and have been prepared for it all.

We are fortunate that there are people out there still willing and unafraid to go out, stand up for what is right and defend our freedoms.
