Three White Ravens

Tic Tac and Toe

Two or more years ago a single white raven was found in the churchyard at All Saints Church in Bishop. This year 3 fledglings have been found, all are white.

Tic Tac and Toe were halfway starved to death when they were found sitting on branch, looking listless and not moving or flinching when approached.

British Trust for Ornithology spokesman Tom Cadwallender said: "To have one white raven is extremely unusual, but for it to happen again in the same place and to have three white birds this time is unprecedented.

The three are being cared for at the Weardale Animal Sanctuary

I am a superstitious person by nature and I tend to believe these three birds are a portent of things to come. Something big. Something good.

So hold onto your hats and lets see what happens then……….

They're kinda creepy, just not what you'd expect. Do white ravens mean something? Are they a symbol, what could they represent? Or are they just an interesting commodity?

They are probably just interesting. I like to think they mean something good is about to happen. Ravens have always been associated with darkness and evil, which is probably why you feel they are creepy.

The fact they are white (indicative of good as opposed to evil) is the thrill for me.

Quoth the Raven "Nevermore".

I guess the bad part about whit ravens is how their parents treat them?

Or maybe the bad part with ravens is how you always see them eating the dying people's eyes. That is not very nice....

Makes me think of Matthew the Raven. Except he's way cooler.

I saw an article on the net about them and thought about doing an article on it too. They are unusual. You beat me to it

Yes, they raised them to fledgling age then abandon them. Where they would normally take the youngster out to teach it to survive, they just let them grow enough to fly from the nest then leave them high and dry. Weird that they do a half job, why not see it through to the end? Or why not kill them at birth? Funny one.

I looked this up on Wiki as I did not know to whom or what you referred. I expect he probably is cooler.

Sorry about that, beating you to it. I used to have a pet crow/raven Druscilla, so when I saw the article I reacted immediately. The white ravens are very unusual, yes. I would love to have one of them as a pet.
