Not watching the pot to see if it boils

So, I read the comments of the fellow joe users regarding my last posting. First off, I am not one of those girls who gives out phony digits. I have never done that. If I don't think that the person is someone I want around, I tell them that I am busy right now(which I am), or something along those lines. There is nothing more hateful than the phony digits. And I am a firm believer in karma. Everything I have ever done to someone has come back to bite me.

I have not been sitting watching the phone for every second since I gave my number out. I have more self-respect than that. I have been so far removed from the dating scene, that the first number I give out I get overzealous. I know that I have to get out and meet people. But being in your late 20's, its kind of disheartening to go to the local clubs

point taken. I certainly hope that I did not offend.

But... just out of curiousity, if going to the local clubs is disheartening, where else are you going? What else are you doing to get your little light to shine?

Tell me about it!  I'm married though, so I suppose it really doesn't count. He's gone for a year though, so I indulge in a little girls night out every so often...and I feel positively ancient and altogether unattractive in bars and clubs. Have you thought about maybe enrolling in a class?  Yoga, art, a foreign language...or perhaps there's a gym or a 'Y' near where you live?

Sorry, no offense was intended with the 'watched pot' comment...and I must admit in my much younger days, I may have had some "sitting by the phone willing it to ring" experiences.


Anyway, I'm only mid-twenties--but there are times when I find the club scene depressing--those are the times that I'm actually "on the prowl" (for lack of a better phrase). When I go out to have a good time with friends and don't really care if I meet anyone--that is when they all come crawling out of the wood work.

Just a bit of trivia:  "everything comes back to you" is not from Karma, in the true sense, unless what you did was in your past life.  The true belief is that everything you do in this life will have an effect on your next life.  That is the sense of "I must have been really bad/good in my last life..." 

However, there is the Wiccan belief in the "law of three" which is what most people see as "Karma" now.  The basic principle is that any energy that you give out will come back.  Of course, the "three" comes back in the belief that it comes back threefold. 

A lot of the Earth religions start blurring at one point or another, though.
