looking to get this game, i have a question

hey guys

quick question. is this game like other strategy games where you play for maybe an hour or 2 building your forces, then trying tokill everything else.

or is it something where you play and save and the game lasts for months kinda thing?

It can be either way depending upon the galaxy size you're playing, as well as other settings. In fact, it can be much more varied than your either/or question implies.

I have won the game without ever getting into a fight (except with pirates and terrorists). By that I mean that was the way I INTENDED to play that game.

I have also had games where I was at war with SOMEONE for 2/3s of the time.

All my games tend to be rather long, but that is because I don't enjoy and deliberately avoid "quick build, then slash n burn" strategies.

BTW, you do realize that this is a Turn-Based Strategy game, not a constant activity (so-called "Real Time Strategy") title, I hope?

This is a turned based game as opposed to a real time strategy game. It is the kind of game that will be saved and continued. Of course the way it is for most of us, we'd prefer to sit and play for as long as it takes but we have jobs to go to eventually.

On small maps i guess you could play in a single sitting but I know where your question is comming from. So I'd say its a game that takes multiple sittings to finish when played at typical settings.
