Hi

Are there any kind of mods which disables the custom ship creation and uses premade ship builds? Kinda like in Galactic Civilizations 1.

No, this is not feasible since the AI will still design its own ships.

Hmm what about disabling techs which for example give rocket and beam weapons? It might not remove the designing part fully but atleast shorten the time consuming scouting and developing. I've only played few games but never payed attention to what happen if 5 pts in weapons ship meets 5 pts in shield one? Is there any random factor in combats?

I seem to remember a mod that created a load of extra core ships so that they'd always be more or less at the right tech level. Can't remember what it was called though, and I can imagine that the shipyard got a bit crowded.

It's really not that much of a hassle to design ships.
