Looking for some direction or focus, maybe help

Like the title points out, after 3 yrs here I still feel like all this stuff is way over my head!!!

I started out with the 60 day WB version, like it and purchased it. Within the first 30 days or so I upgraded to Object Desktop, before the year was out I got WC. Go figure.

It took almost another year before I felt comfortable repling to posts and then creating posts of my own. I had been just using WB but then started using gadgets and widgets. As you can see I moved along quickly!

Recently I set up my WC home page, with alot of help from folks here in the forums. All along I knew I didn't want to start skinning, too much work!!!! I did though convince myself that doing screenshots was something I could do. I could and I did.

Now I realized that I haven't been downloading any new WBs, IPs, CXPs or visiting the forums on a requlary basis.

I don't use all of the other stuff available like Right Click or Object Dock because I find myself saying huh to much!!!!

I'm retired with no family, so I can spend 24/7 here. How on earth do you people manage families, work and your other interests and still produce such great, talented and artistic skins and customizations of your desktops? Come on give up with the secrets.

I am 16 years married and have 4 boys , eldest is 16.. I haven't spent more than 10 mins with any of them for about 5 years.. Every waking hour I sit here at my desk and skin..Theres no possible way I could do this and lead a normal life. Hopefully as things progress I can spend less time skinning and more time with them, it just hasn't been possible up until this point. It's been a sacrifice for sure once it progressed past a hobby but I feel if you are going to succeed at ANYthing you must give every ounce of yourself and never back down or give up.

Having said that I just finished a recent skin I have been toiling over and I am going to spend some time with my kids playing football today.. Tommorrow.. back to the grindstone.

i like to use a balanced approach.....devoting my time to my family, work and skinning...work during the day....spend time with my family in the evening and once their all in bed then I spend a little time skinning...but i must admit when i first started skinning, i too rarely left my desk...which meant I would get very little sleep, which in turn wore me out fast...i remember nights I actually fell asleep at my desk...lol....so now i think it's important to balance myself, although that means fewer skins...but i'm more focused these days!

When I used to make skins more often, I would just dedicate some time to do it.  Whether it was a few hours on a quiet weekend, or staying up late after the family was in bed.

I do my skinning in spurts...sometimes a marathon of skinning...it all depends on when the goes off in my head...then I take a few days off...which pretty much includes trying out new ideas. And once you've gotten a few skins under your belt and get the hang of things you can space it out. The trick is to find something your comfortable doing and do it. But once the bug hits you...your in for the long haul.

Good time management....one more hour at the computer then I'm going to go though that stack of bills and maybe feed the dogs.

I like skinhit's approach...but I kick in one more item...No Weekend Skinning or computers at all for that matter...yes, you heard it here first kiddies...the bandit dedicates his whole weekend to the family. besides....I've got T3 at the college, and I'm so used to it that nothing would really compare from home anyhow. and "C" 5 days a week I'm either in my lab (21 computers) or my office (5 computers)...it's good just to take a couple of days and get away from the radiation.

I work between 9h30am and 5h30am with 2h00 to go to my job (in train) and the same to go to my home. Something like 12h00 per day I think on skin under the train and when i'm at home i play with my daughter a little and when she sleep i put my skins idea on computer. Before i pass time with my wife but now that's no longer an option so more time
And in my week-end (monday and tuesday) i upload them make a little but my first occupation is my daughter.

I work six days a week. I log on after work, check a few things and then I do other things away from puter. Most active time is Prime time 8PM to 11PM. I am in and out on my one day off.
