Drengin overpowered?

The problem is that if other races survive this first wave of strength the Drengin tend to neglect their infrastructure. I found it very effective to get the Drengin involved in two+ wars early on. This effectively splits their early strength and allows their lack of infrastructure to catch up with them...This usually minimizes their importance somewhere around mid game. They are still effective then, but it tails off dramatically from their early game strength.

In all, I think this makes them some very good competition. An early bulge that is very dangerous, followed by a weak infrastructure achilles heal.

No. They are OK with a blitz very early, and might knock out one or two people right away, but then they are done. Indeed, I would put them in the bottom half of all the stock races.

When they develop worlds, they don't design them to support strong populations. They focus on splitting their tiles between factories and labs, and they often lead to money problems.

Worse, their super ability quickly turns into a weakness. It gives them a large military rating, but their military is actually weak. This means they will happily get into wars that they can't actually win.

Worse, even when they build ships with better engines, they put them in fleets with Super Dominator Corvettes. This means that their attack waves get slower and slower the more space they have to cross. You can easily pick off their few strong ships which do not make the most of their strength, because they mix fleets with strong ships and the garbage free corvettes. This lowers the attack strength of each fleet they field significantly, making tactical wars against them a breeze.

Hahaha, no. The drengin are powerful early game, then they weaken. And then if you still find them "overpowered" later in the game, just keep bribing the Yor to go to war with them.

Oh, and then, if your playing DA, have the Krynn fight the Yor, so they dont become massive during the Yor-Drengin war.

I rarely concider the Drengin a major threat. I'm usually more concerded about the Korath with their spore ships.

I'm trying right now to win with Drengin on Masochistic, just for the sake of the race medal. It's not easy! I'd much rather play Korath (as I'll be doing next game)!
