ObjectDock 1.9 released

Faster, Prettier, Easier to use, and more usable!

Stardock has released ObjectDock 1.9.  ObjectDock is a free program that adds a configurable, skinnable dock to Windows.  Once installed, users can add short-cuts, display running tasks, and add mini-applets called docklets to their docks that can display weather information, time, system info, or much anything else.

ObjectDock 1.9 adds a host of new features including a Start menu docklet (for bringing up the real Start menu in the system tray), live thumbnail previews on Windows Vista, a new weather docklet, minimize and restore effects on Windows Vista, free-form screen positioning, a new graphics engine for massively better performance, reduce memory requirements, new tileable dock backgrounds, and much more.

ObjectDock is a free download at http://www.objectdock.com.  Stardock also has ObjectDock Plus which adds support for multiple docks, tabbed docks, system tray support, additional mouse-over effects and more.

Very cool, love the Start Menu Launcher. It always bothered me to have to chase down to the corner from the dock.

Edit: I'm not seeing the same Object Dock properties box as shown in the Screenshot for Tileable Backgrounds above.

Excellent improvements. I like the new positioning adjustment, being able to put it exactly where you want, not just right, left or center. Awesome job!!

Lantec: that's the free version's dialog...in the plus its in the same space Available on zooming docks, scroll through...you'll see there is i think 4 tile backgrounds included updated to use the latest skinning features. Give them a try!

Bender50: Try CityName, PrivinceAbbreviation. "Toronto, ON" works for me! We plan on continually improving the location-recognation code here on the server-side to make it better at recognizing the location you've entered.

All went smooth here. This software is probably the most essential, useful that I own. Love the start menu docklet. I'm not using it in my current setup but I can see that it will be used in the future. Good job! Love it!

Great work!

I like very much the new style, but I found a problem.

My IE becomes very slow when the objectdock is running (the IE consumes all the CPU for severals seconds at any command). If I turn off the objectdock, the IE returns to normal.

I discovered also if I run the IE as administrator, the problem doesn't appear.

Does anyone else have this problem?

My system:
Intel Duo Core 2.0Ghz
Memory: 2Gb
Graphic card: ATI Radeon X1600
Windows Vista Ultimate
Internet Explorer 7

Applications should not store app files (all files not directly created by users are app files) in "documents". that's what AppData is for.. sigh..

This new version is really better. but I've found some problems:

the "windows start" docklet doesn't work. Everytime I try to use it, objectdock ask me to "try later"... strange.
the "ram and CPU" docklet also doen't work (it craches the program when I try to use it)

I am using Windows Vista.

What docklet?  I don't see a RAM or CPU default docklet on my default install.

Have you rebooted?
