codename manolis app

a startmenu revolution?

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/53791335/
2 days ago I finished my concept for a new application or a startmenu for future windows versions.
the project in the cradle is called codename manolis (©2007 Loony Workshop). I am not a programmer, so... well... I don´t know.
I offered it to microsoft, but they were not at least a bit impressed or interested. So maybe I sell my concept to somebody else. Just kidding.
MS guys just gave me a "no" and this link: WWW Link

So anyway, I think my idea is brilliant, and I want to show you the concept I created.
If you know something like this from the past, tell me. But tell me only if it is the same concept.

here are the links to the graphics...

dA 1 Link without descriptions

dA 2 Link with descriptions

Read carefully and tell me what you think, guys!

Greetings

Loony I.

Please don´t steal my work or my brainchild. (or I will sue your ass off with my monster lawyer)

LMAO at this comment in the dA description

All of what you describe is do-able in DesktopX I think and I recall a circular launcher described in the forums.

It's an interesting launchpad, maybe you can find a DX coder to help you out?

I was not serious when writing this, but it would be nice if my concept would not be stolen...

I think it´s brilliant , I don´t say it´s brilliant. that´s a little strong difference.
And like I said, MS did not want my plans. My concept could be the future for windows startmenu. since windows 9x it was allways the same concept. But they declined it. Yes they did not even say anything but UNSOLICITED IDEA SUBMISSION POLICY. bla bla bla. and good luck with my project.

Desktop X, samurize etc..... Hmmm, I would like to see it made as an standalone application - no other app needed. that would be awesome.

Sounds to me like you need a front man to talk to microsoft if you want a decent answer from MS, I like the concept

I like the concept, it has appeal. So now the burning question: Why not develop it for open source? Microsoft steals all its best ideas from open source developers anyway (muaaaahhaaahaaahaaa!)

But seriously, I'd suggest you develop this for Linux distros and see what comes of it. I think it has potential.

Because he can't code.

Maybe someone will step up and code it but honestly, just throwing the graphics on a page isnt much input, most of the work is the coding. I believe i saw an idea similar to this in the DX forums too. Its a little different but its not the first time I have seen it.

right. the graphics took me 5 or 6 hours. codeing it, even to a beta would take some full days or weeks. funny thing is; I should know how to code because I had to learn programming in school, but I was a lazy ass to be honest. Maybe I am too dumb for being a programmer, I just don´t get syntaxes into my brain.

I would feel honored If somebody would say: OK, I will programm that as open source. I like the idea of open source. The only request if somebody would write the app would be that I may release it at dA. And I would love to code a download site for the app. Of course the app would have to be compatible with XP and Vista.

That´s all just a bunch of thoughts in my head, it´s strange...

Looks like a good challenge for a DesktopX coder.

Nice work on the graphics. Though as a whole it's not anything new and most of these elements exist elsewhere...very hard to protect this under intellectual copyrights.

Orbit is the circular launcher you're talking about.

I like the concept, but I wonder what happens when the All Programs link is clicked, considering how cluttered that list can get.

Orbit 0.3.5 Released!

Seems it was never updated past that point.

well, orbit seems to be cool, but it won´t run under vista. even if I install .net 1.1 it won´t run. And orbit is just a launcher like rocketdock. Manolis if ever be programmed would be much more.

ROFL.. too funny..

This looks really interesting, i like the rotating circle-menu.
It has a lot of potential, but would take a lot of work.

You need to be very careful putting "ideas" out there.

Im sure there are coders out there that might be interested in a partnership, but be upfront with them if you are wanting to spit profits, etc. never ASSUME anything.

I might eventually be able to develop a mac version. I am learning Objective-C (the language of choice with mac os x) and have already created a web browser (http://tominatedsoftware.com/tb/)
