Ack. Help... lost planets

OK, I admit. I got a little excited by the thought of making my own logos/race pictures. And I replaced a logo for an ongoing game. However, I saved it exactly under the same name, in the same spot where the old logo was.
For a couple of games, everything was fine. So I began to tweak my resolution (to match my 1440x900 resolution) and still, everything is fine. But somehow, in my last round of changes (did a couple more logos), I now see ONLY the logos. No ships, no planets. Stars are still there as are the ship "icons".
Is this some goofy XML thing that I may have messed up? Or did I save the .PNG in an incorrect compression?
Anyone got ANY sort of idea what I did wrong? I love this game and want my Gigantic campaign back!
