bad news

well after the day started so well, i just got a phone call from my doctor. It seems the treatment they have been giving me for my leg has failed and unfortunately i am looking at an 90% chance that i will be having it amputated within 2 to 3 weeks. i have been on disability for quite a while trying to save my leg, but alas all has failed. not the kind of news you want to hear, especially when i thought things were going well with my treatment. Looks like i will have to change my user name to hopalong pretty soon .
no point dwelling on it anyway, i am sure there are a lot of people out there far worse off than me, and at least i will still be alive

Real men only need one leg!  Wait  . . .  agh forget it.  To many jokes available.

It's good that you still have your sense of humor, sometimes it's all we have.  Let us know when the surgery is, my family and I will add you to the bedtime prayers.

I wish there was something more I could do.  Good luck.  We'll be here to do what we can.

Nimbin, That just sux. Haven't a clue what I could do from here, but if anything, you've got it. Putting in a word with the Powers-that-Be. Guess that's all I can do for now...

  You're in my prayers Nimbin!

A speedy recovery for you, a long, happy and fulfilling life is ahead of you!

After you do a bit of R & R, take a cruise and go some place you've always wanted to go to.

The main thing Nimbin is to do something nice for yourself and try to make that an everyday habit!

Life has no rules! And if you're not living it, you're only existing in it!

Go on and dream tonight, and if that dream made you smile, then go live it! Deams do come true if you want it bad enough!

Take good care and we'll see ya soon!

Cp

thanks for everyones kind thoughts and prayers, life goes on. i don't look at this as the end of anything, more the beginning of a new adventure. I am lucky enough to live in a country where the chances of getting a prosthetic leg are very high so i will continue to live a happy and full life after this, albiet a little bit lighter than i previously was and only one foot that can stink lol, but on the bright side booting someone up the ass will probbaly be a whole lot more satisfying now . once again thanks for everything

Nimbin, as expressed by the others, this really sux. We haven't had much interface but we both belong to the same community and I think I wouldn't be speaking out of turn in saying that your are in our thoughts and prayers. Keep up the good attitude.

You know what they say...one door closes and another one opens. Not many choose to respond to such a change as you have, and I for one, find it truly inspiring. How we choose to respond in any given situation, is really the only control we have in life, you know? Thank you very much for sharing your courage.

May your wings remain strong, as they carry you onward and upward on this journey.

Sorry to hear about the misfortune, I'm just a newb here but I'll keep you in my prayers for good health and recovery

Hopefully it will go well, but in my personal experience, one gets used to everything given attitude and time.

I, for one, live just fine with just 2.5 senses.

That said, hopefully it turns out you don't have to lose a leg, however.

Everything will be well. In my prayers you are and family at WC is with you. Holler should you need anything. Be well and god bless.

P.S.- Attitude really is inspiring. More should be as positive about life.

I live with no sense at all

Seriously Nimbin, We are on this earth just a short while and have only a short time to make a difference in the lives of others. We are affected in our daily lives by many things but we see courage increasingly less. Your attitude is truly inspirational to me and your courage is immeasurable. I wish you the best in your recovery and your future.

Damn Nimbin....really sucks to get news like that! I hope you get a second opinion better you let them go ahead with anything like that. With the crap I just went through they had me on all the wrong medicines and could have ended up killing me before they cured me...which they have yet to do. I guess thats why they call it a Medical "Practice." At any rate I wish you well and really hope it does come to amputation.

Best wishes to you, Nimbin ....I hope also that it doesn't end with amputation.

Life throws us a curve ball every now & then ...when it does, hit that bugger right out of the park and carry on.

Wishing you well.

fingers crossed Nimbin......it's not over 'til the fat lady sings.....and at the moment....she's only hummin'......

you know, whatever you think of Heather Mills....she's certainly inspirational.....have just been looking at the YouTube videos of her on Dancing With The Stars.....

was looking at a show a couple of days ago on people walking the Kokoda Track.....a bloke in the group doing it with one leg.......nothing stopping you doing anything you want....in fact, have you ever noticed how sometimes people with a disability end up doing more than you yourself do....they seem to set themselves more challenges.....makes me feel pretty ashamed and lazy sometimes watching them.....

sounds like you have the attitude to meet this challenge full on if you have to.......and we're right here when you need us......

keep us up-to-date won't you......
