Why I love this game.....

I was playing as the Terrans on a Gigantic Map, 6 random opponents, 8 minors, normal everything else. I had a decent starting spot in the lower left corner. My civilization was moving right along when I noticed the Iconian Refuge and Altarian Resistance went from Neutral to cool in one turn. I quickly made alliances with the YOR and KORATH (best military at the time) because I had a feeling I was about to be attacked and I was not ready for war. The next turn the Iconian Refuge and Altarian Resistance declared war. THe Korath and Yor honored their alliances and attacked them. The Drath joined in on the other side and the Thalens joined our side. GALACTIC BATTLE ROYAL!! Since I allied with the 2 best militaries, I was given enough time to research the necessary techs and build a formidable fleet. I wiped out the Iconian Refuge and took the Drath's home planet before they surrendered to to the Thalens. Now, the Korath are barely hanging on because they have been waging a war with the Thalens who have become a serious threat. The Yor and I are watching this battle and I decide to pay the Yor to attack the Thalens. I figure the two powerhouses can duke it out for awhile while I build up my military. Whoever comes out weaker gets the Terrans kicking their tails!

Shifting aliances and last minute saves make for a great game!

Have you considered writing up your Epic as an AAR?

I thought about it, but I really didn't take any notes this time and not sure how to get screenshots posted. However, I may start one for my next game.

Yeah, all the games I start out writing AARs for turn out to be the dull ones, and the epic ones are the ones I don't have notes or screenshots for

Still, nice win!

You can deal with that by doing periodic saves (say, every year or half year). Then if you have a great game you can re-open the save files, get screenshots or other juicy info, and then do the AARs. I tend to save the games and will occasionally will go back to refresh my memory. Plus, I very rarely get to finish a game in one sitting so I have to have game saves anyway. I just need to remember to save the games, which is easy to overlook when the early game turns speed by.

Just a thought!

Thanks. I will see what the next game turns out to be and see if it is interesting enough to do an AAR on. By the way, to finish the story really quick.....the Yor and Korath basically were useless against the Thalen. They were just too powerful. Every 2 months or so the Thalen's influence was growing as they took planets from both. So, I entered the war with the Yor and Korath to combat the Thalen. I beat them pretty handily. One roadblock I ran into though was pirates. They were tough to beat in the beginning, but I finally found the right formula. Anyway, after defeating the Thalen, I broke my alliances with the Yor and Korath and wiped their piddly civilizations off the map.
