IconPackager and Windows Vista

IconPackager 3.2 (currently in beta) brings the world of icon customization to Windows Vista users, with support for new features such as Live Icons and the many new icons that need to be skinned in the new OS.  To help bring awareness to IconPackager and its Windows Vista capabilities, we've written two informational articles detailing both what's new in the world of icons under Windows Vista, and how you go about changing your Vista icons using Stardock IconPackager.

The first article, "New Vista Icons" talks about all the icon changes in Vista versus how they worked under XP.  Dynamic scaling, 256x256 icons, Live Icons and the numerous brand new system icons that artists will now need to think about when creating Vista-compatible icon sets.  Included in the article are example files to help you learn how to build the new Live Icons, a neat addition to Vista where a folder icon will show a sort of preview of the content that is actually in the folder.

Check out New Vista Icons.

Next is an article by Brad Wardell covering how you use IconPackager to switch out your icons under Windows Vista.  Either as an entire package, or on a one-by-one basis, the article will step you through the process complete with screenshots.  It's a good info article for anyone who isn't immediately familiar with how to use the program.

Expect news on a final version of IconPackager 3.2 very soon!

According to SDC it isn't in beta anymore. Mine says it's Release version 3.20 not 3.19

I hope this includes an update to IconDeveloper also, I haven't checked SDC or the other articles but it isn't mentioned here.

Still waiting for an update to SkinStudio for Vista

The Vista icon support is broken on IconDeveloper, at least in Vista (ironic eh?)

I have the latest build IconPackager 3.20.1.20 installed on my Vista PC and I think something is missing!

Where is the option to change the icon of a Drive? On Windows XP when you right click on a drive and click Properties there is a button called Icon. Why is this missing on Windows Vista? Is this a bug?
